987 Wind Deflector Catch Question?

A little help please; does anyone know if the clips for the wind deflector attachments are the same as the 986 version which seem available readily?
The rubber grommet within one clip is missing and causing the deflector to move fore & aft within the catch causing an irritating noise and I believe the only solution is to buy a new clip so that I can get the grommet which forms apart of it?

Any advice appreciated!

Hi, I have a 987 and the clips are on back-order to PC Bournemouth from the factory(and no doubt other PC's) Porsche are very kindly doing a recall for this part at no cost. Suggest you contact your nearest Porsche Centre and see what they can do for you. I have been waiting a couple of weeks now and frustrated at the delay especially with the good weather predicted for the next week or so.
Best of luck

Thanks for the response! Good to know where to start - I'll call my local PC & see what they suggest.....

Been on back order for 2 years it seems. £65 the pair.

I had a new set fitted , it's not that straight forward as they are riveted on.

Seems a lot as all I need is the small grommet in one catch.....might have to improvise if it's a long term fix! Thanks all the same!

Is this recall for all ages of 987?

As far as I know it is. I was first offered it by PC Cardiff but Bournemouth is closer. If they ever appear!! All the best

Thanks for the info.

My local OPC is Cardiff so will have to mention it to them when I'm at the Macan launch next month.

All those with this problem. I am booked in with PC Bournemouth to have the clips changed on 27/03. If you are waiting to get these clips fitted check with your local PC, I had to phone again to confirm the clips had arrived, if I hadn't, would they have contacted me??
Now all I need is more "top down weather"

No, apparently only a small number of 987s are affected, according to Porsche Leeds. Sadly mine isn't one of them. Cost of new clips and fitting - £174!

I'm going to try a little bit of blu-tack

Wollemi,
Didn't know only a select few 987's were effected. However had mine done yesterday along with the pcm software upgrade. Big difference, had roof down on the way home and no more rattles or fear of losing that all expensive centre wind deflector.
Best of luck getting yours done.

Any ideas what years of 987 are affected?

Cheers

No sorry, I don't know which years are affected. Kim at OPC Leeds looked up my car and found out that mine isn't one of the ones affected but she didn't have information about which ones were.
I guess you will just have to ask your local OPC to look up your car.

My clips look ok as far as I can see, the little rubber bumpers are still there I think but it does really rattle, but difficult to see why. I can't make it rattle by shaking or wiggling it - it's just when driving!

£174 is a lot of money to fix it though

Exactly what I did!!!!
Not a great cosmetic result as it took a lot of blutac but it isn't rattling any more!!

My 986 had strategically placed blu tac fitted when I bought it to eliminate the wind deflector rattle, I bought new clips from the OPC & they were about £5 from memory.

How come the 987 ones are so much more expensive???

Dyllan,, where did you need to put the the blu-tack? Just into the clip or all around the wind deflector?

And if you do have the old rivets drilled out...make sure the drilled out head doesn't get pushed into your hollow roll bar. I was driven MAD by the old rivet sliding around every time I took a corner. []

Can I have some help, my 987 options list from new had wind deflectors on it. Now I know I don't have the glass with the car
but can someone tell me if the fitting kit is on my car, there seems to be some black plastic fittings I assume the glass slides into.
If so, is it just the glass I need to buy or other bits as well?

Thanks,
