987 Wind Deflector Catch Question?

ORIGINAL: Superjoe

Can I have some help, my 987 options list from new had wind deflectors on it. Now I know I don't have the glass with the car
but can someone tell me if the fitting kit is on my car, there seems to be some black plastic fittings I assume the glass slides into.
If so, is it just the glass I need to buy or other bits as well?

Thanks,

Hi there, those are the correct mounts for the wind deflector.

The part number for the clear plasitic panel and storage bag bag is: 987 561 621 00

Price is: £137.66 less PCGB discount but plus VAT

Approx: £148.67

Can you buy the storage bag separately? If so, any ideas how much?

bag isn't listed separately so I would say not.

To both of you I would check out ebay as both of these appear from time to time.

Beware though the 986 one will not fit the 987 or vice versa.

if you want a storage bag i will sell you mine ..personally will never take the screen off so no need for it

Hi, I have a 987 and the clips are on back-order to PC Bournemouth from the factory(and no doubt other PC's) Porsche are very kindly doing a recall for this part at no cost. Suggest you contact your nearest Porsche Centre and see what they can do for you. I have been waiting a couple of weeks now and frustrated at the delay especially with the good weather predicted for the next week or so.
Best of luck

Is this recall for all ages of 987?

No, apparently only a small number of 987s are affected, according to Porsche Leeds. Sadly mine isn't one of them. Cost of new clips and fitting - £174!

I'm going to try a little bit of blu-tack
Exactly what I did!!!!
Not a great cosmetic result as it took a lot of blutac but it isn't rattling any more!!

Dyllan,, where did you need to put the the blu-tack? Just into the clip or all around the wind deflector?

sorry for delay just noticed this!!-i basically put blu tac on the top and bottom both sidesin between the glass and the runners -doesnt look great but at leat i cant se it and its fixed the bloody annoying rattjle without #170

Thanks for that Dyllan, I'll try that if the rattles return. I think I've stopped them with two double thicknesses of bicycle inner tube at the bottom where the springy feet are, not too obtrusive at all but they fall out if you remove the wind deflector.
Once upon a time you could get some stuff called Black-tack, which would be less noticeable than the blu.
