Hi ALL, Noticed slight noise from front drivers side, on inspection i see snapped spring:( how much am i looking at guys? are they changed in pairs? ta!

The coil spring set is one per axle so I would assume that there are two springs in each set.

Year of car and with or without PASM for cost of the parts?

If you PM the VIN I will tell you exactly as there are two different sets for a 05 S

Part number for just the coil set was:

997 343 531 38 504

but that has now been superseded by:

997 343 531 44 504

Cost for the new coil (marked with a bset is:

130.95 + VAT

If you have PCGB membership then the above price should be discounted by 10%

Note: By the way you actually have a 2006 model (regardless of what the number plate shows)

I think you will find it is a pair as the parts catalog only lists one set per car. If 2 were needed ie one left and one right the catalog it would say so. As there is no indication of this so I would assume a set is a pair.

Hi Nick, just been qouted £450.00 ish to replace the front springs.. where are you finding them at that price please?

The prices for the parts are direct from the Porsche catalog, the same one that a dealer would use.

The price I quoted was for the springs only. No labour charge is included, and I would also expect an alignment of the suspension to be carried out as part of the install process.

cheers nick, yes i had released it was parts only, thanks again, guess it does take a while to change everything and align..

Ian,

With the £130 for springs and a Porsche alignment being about £260 where have you been quoted £450?

I ask as on my MOT I was told there is a slight noise in the strut top bearings on mine.

hi Buddy, its at my local trusted garage(durham) they do all my mechanical work, service each 2 years gets done at OPC for "stamp" BTW OPC price is.... £750.00! can give u number if in my area?

It's ok Ian, just wondered if that was an OPC price.

I'm near Derby and much as I like Northumbria I can get it done locally.

Thanks,

i had to replace two broken springs on the rear of my 987 about 18 months ago (i could here a clanking from the rear when going over bumps) it cost me about £300 pounds all in at my local porsche specialist using proper porsche springs(the springs are marked with a painted band you must put the same coloured band back on the car)

Ian, I wondered if you have been driving over speed humps or poorly maintained roads frequently cited as the cause of broken springs and suspension ills. If so, it's worth sending the bill to the local authority highways department along with evidence ie photographs of any potholes you may have driven over.

Springs are sold in an axle pair, we do them all at £110
