991 Gen2 Test

Just about to take the demo car 991.2 back to OPC Silverstone........have to say, yes it's quick; it is a Porsche after all. BUT it's not the same experience/occasion as driving a MUCH louder and aggressive 3.8 with PSE either on or off. Bit underwhelming in my honest opinion, and I'm glad I got one of the last 991.1 GTS's. My 2 penny's worth of course! ??

Did you all have ear plugs in? It sounded pretty good to me both on acceleration and the over run with lots of pops and bangs. It certainly sounds a hell of a lot sportier than earlier turbos and not a million miles away from a na engine.

I think the issue is you are compairing the noise to a turbo and not a GTS? In my option it is very much a million miles away.... However if I know Porsche they will find a way to improve the noise by the time the next GTS arrive...

Not at all. We have a 997 turbo and GTS, with sports exhaust, so I know what they both sound like. [:)]

With respect the 997 is a lot quieter than the 991. Both 997s I had, had PSE but neither compare to a 991.

Maybe it's because I'm under 45 that I could hear the difference ;)

Then I bow to your superior aural acuity. However, keep listening to those loud exhausts and you won't be hearing the difference for much longer.

Indeed so and it also depends on the type of driving and distance/time you spend listening to it. My 928 with an RMB sounds as good as any of the modern PSEs. Wonderful for short squirts here and there but it's a pain in the ears on journeys over 2 hours.
