Anyone know anything about a recall to fix an issue with the 4WD system?

My car is due for service on Monday but local OPC want to delay as a new part is needed and they don't have it.
Cheers

Yes ,it's the 4wd control box or part of the switching system between the axles I was told,
not a safety issue but my dealer did the work at the first (2year) service in late Sept.
Adds a few hours to the service time I believe.

Thanks, even more interesting.

I asked the OPC when this "recall" was announced and they said last week!!

The new date they offered me was when I plan to be away so I have told them that Monday (12th February 2016) still stands for the second year service (first service) and that it will have to go back in when I return.

I have also asked them to rectify the spoiler fault (doesn't come up automatically at prescribed speed) which has been present since new.

Cheers

Actually Alan you are part of the Jersey / Norman Empire which commenced in 1066 when a few lads from here with William our Duke of Normandy next door of which we were part, had a few drinks then popped over to Hastings to try their beer and found it so disgusting that we had to conquer the whole of England (Angleterre) to spread the word about French beer (lager). As you will know from your history books Angleterre has never again been conquered so we still own you. Your Queen is factually our Duke of Normandy to whom we owe [FONT=calibri"]allegiance [FONT=verdana, geneva"]not your bunch of muppets in Westminster (We have our own muppets!)

Unfortunately the Jersey OPC is no longer locally owned and our true Jersey service has disappeared.

Cheers

It's been a while!
I was notified about the recall at the back end of last year but was told it was not urgent and could wait for the next ( first) service due in February. Mind you if it took a couple of hours to fix on John's car it sounds more like something that might break rather than just a software reprogramming exercise. And bearing in mind how much experience Porsche have with FWD not the first thing I would have expected to go wrong, where my money was on the RWS stepper motor programming.

Nick

Hi Nick, nice to hear from you again.

I have just had a call from the garage saying the part has arrived and that it will be fitted today!

As usual I will want full details of whatever is done for my FSH

From what the garage told me it seems they don't bother to hand on any information about recalls (unless safety related) until a car is booked in for service. As there is a two year service interval I don't find this particularly satisfactory as in theory you could be running for nearly two years with a carried forward "defect"

Cheers Michael

What actually is the fault? If it's whereby a component 'could' go faulty and if it does it doesn't have a safety risk [and by the same token if it doesn't go faulty there's no problem with the car] then they won't recall the car. They'll make the change whenever a car comes in [or if it goes faulty and the owner brings the car in, just like with any non-recall random fault]. They could do worse and not categorise a non-safety issue as a recall and only replace those that fail, when they fail.

As I say, what is the actual fault? Is the component operating in a faulty mode all the time on every car or is it that it's prone to fail so they're changing them in advance. If it's the former then that's not good. If it's the latter then it's normal procedure to do it this way.

Absolutely no idea!!

Getting information from the local OPC is like trying to extract their teeth.

I was promised full details for my records but the invoice doesn't even show it as a FOC item so I have no evidence that they have done anything.

The OPC have promised to send me full details when the item has been "invoiced" presumably to Porsche.

When get this I will put the details here.

Cheers

OK, as I was in my favourite opc on Tues I took the opportunity to ask them to check the dates,
the recall was around mid 2015 and as Nick said was not a safety related item,
mine was done in July I asked for the first service to be done earlier than its due date Sept, prior
to the "big tour",I also had the spoiler deployment checked and the end stop position reset.

I would like to have contact with anyone local (Norwich) who owns a new GT3 (991) to get some views on what their thoughts are
on a GT3 as a road car on our 'lovely surfaced' Norfolk roads. Tyre roar etc.

Would you like to put this on the GT3 forum and not hijack this thread, please?

I was told it was a campaign and not a recall
if the car was on the list it would be done at the next service
later cars had it sorted at factory
