991R Announced

I thought the "older air-cooled stuff" was now not being used (to the same extent) due to rapid increases in values and are subject to speculators too...?

Dragging up an old thread here, but for me personally the 911 R is my favourite Porsche.

I love the GT3 RS almost as much, but I think the subtleness of the R with the power and dynamics of the RS is just fantastic.

I went on a factory tour at the beginning of the year and saw one going down the line. As the car wasn't official at that stage I felt like a little kid in a sweet shop when I first saw it. And it was nice to be the only person on the tour who knew of its existence, the tour guide refusing to confirm it but hinting heavily that I was right.

Then I went to the Geneva motor show in March and actually saw one on the stand, furthering my passion for the car.

I doubt I'll ever be in a position to own one, but I would love to think that a keen enthusiast who actually uses the car will one day offer me a ride in one... anyone one here own one that would like to indulge me? ??

On a side note I've been struggling to get hold of the scale model of the car, missing out on the white/red a few months back. But I've finally managed to secure a silver/green one today from a local OPC... I'm like that little kid again. The models seem to be as hard to get hold of as the actual car.

Thanks for for listening to me.

Richard.
