992 Owners Cars

Likewise Schuey, loving the Shark Blue GTS and like you dreamed of owning a 911 since I was young and not regretting it at all.

Winter tyres working well?

Peter,

The Michelin Alpin Sport seemed to have decent grip on hard packed snow such as shown in the earlier photo of the Jaun Pass. That said, conditions for the return journey were distinctly more testing. 25cm of snow had fallen during the night and it was still coming down heavily as we left. The car had overnighted in its garage so was still clean and shiny from its hot foam wash the day before.

This was not to last.

First stop was to brim the tank. Road conditions were difficult and the reassuring grip found on hard packed snow worryingly absent on the churned up melange that covered the road. It was like the PEC kick plate and icehill continuously for 50km. We passed an accident in the first 10km which added to the tension.

After an hour of this we joined the Interlaken Berne Autoroute. Formation snow ploughs doing 80kph was an impressive sight and rather put our local gritters to shame.

Anyway we made it home without incident but the car needs another wash.
