993 RS - Gmund Cars for Sale

This looks like the RS that Andrew got from Ireland ( Isacc Agnew Irish opc ) the owner Guy Harman had a white 964 rs and did
a trade with Andrew for the red 993 rs some years back, amazing how these low mileage specimens keep turning up.
Im sure Andrew will enlighten us all shortly[;)]

Steve, it is the car from Isacc Agnew (believed to be the only right hand drive 993 RS to go to Northern Ireland), Phil Clark went and collected it for us back then, and it went to Mr Harman in Kent. It's nice that the car has been run and used each month whilst he had it, but the mileage has stayed very low. We only got it in the showroom yesterday, so we will spend a good few days now detailing it and getting it looking like new - did you see it before ?

Andrew not seen it before however if you remember Stuart Speed was interested in the white 64 rs when guy had it but was reluctant
to sell until you had found the replacement, in the mean time a mint green 64 rs clubsport turned up and stu ended up buying that
off you instead, dont know who had the white 64 rs in the end, Guy obviously purchased the red 993 rs as a replacement for the white 64 rs, and so happy days all round [:D]

Steve, your turning into an "RS" stalker with your memory of RS cars and there movements ! The white 964 RS is now near here in Harrogate with an architect who also has a 997 GT2 (small world). It's nice how the same cars come back, even after being with the same owner for around 10 years - we have had one particular car in here six times over the last 11 years. The only down side at the moment is the number of nice right hand drive cars going to Hong Kong, but we did just buy one back from there after we sold it 3 years ago, I guess this red 993 RS may end up going into Asia.

I know several people now living in Hong Kong and making so much money, even in these credit cunched times, that I think your guess could be spot on the mark [:D]

Andrew is there only a demand for right hand drive lightweights in Hong Kong ?

I brought my 993RS in Hong Kong 9 years ago and shipped it to the UK. It was one of 9 sold in Hong Kong.

LHD drive cars are not legally drivable in Hong Kong unless you have diplomatic plates so unless it's being bought as a museum piece or a track car (Macau, Zhuhai) no dice.

Stu " rs stalker " speed is the knowledge behind this story [:D]

As mentioned earlier, one of the main reasons for cars going out to HK, is that you simoly cannot import a left hand drive car into the country - even old classic cars, hence the migration of lots of right hand drive cars from here to HK (the same rules apply to South Africa, and I think Australia). These market shifts of cars do depend on exchange rates, but for the Hong Kong market in particular it does not seem to matter on the currency rates - just the fact that the have an eye for limited run low miles Porsches. When they come back from HK it's amazing how very little miles they have covered.

Are we talking about the white RHD 964 RS? If so then top condition RS...totally standard except for Motec IIRC? Remember a guy called Pete owning it?

Another comes out of the woodwork:

Pretty sure the same car was up for £85,000 last time round.

The problem as I see it is that these cars values are being driven up by the euro exchange rate. But are the RHD ones really doing the same as there is no demand from europe. I'm guessing the only people who will pay these prices for RHD are in Hong Kong?

Simon, I think you are right on your pricing..it seemed steep a fews years ago!....I met the owner, nice chap, I think the car has been cosseted and hasn't been on track for a few years...interesting to see if this stays in the UK or whether it goes to the far east, i am not sure how they are with full cages and road registration?

I remember this being for sale (Riviera car) at the same time as Andy's (Mearns) 964 Clubsport was for sale. That was when it was called 'Autoclassica'. What a fantastic looking car!

Matt,

The blue car you refer to at "Autoclassica" is actually a different car. Of the 7 UK right hand drive cars, two of them came in Riviera Blue, the first one I ever had (at Autoclassica), had higher milage (about 40k) and it was the only Club Sport for the UK that had air conditioning. That car went to a collecter in North London and has been there ever since. This current Riviera car we had later when we went back to "Gmund Cars" from 2002. It came from Norwich with about 11k miles (it now has 14k miles), I think this car that just came back into stock is the best one of the uk 7 cars, the colour, the spec, the original condition etc.....Andrew.

Is the fire extinguisher original?
I thought, the cars had two 2-Kg extinguishers... like the 964 RS.

Michael

Pretty common then Andrew[:D]
Good to see you have one or two special cars pal...just like the good old days! May catch you next week perhaps?

No, the 993 CS comes with a single 4kg Werner extinguisher.
