993 RS - Gmund Cars for Sale

The car in the showroom today was not Russell G's old car, his had air conditioning and had done a little more miles, Russell's was the one I sold to the collector in North London around 2001, it's still with that collector now. This current car was Andrew Stevens old car, I bought it from him in 2003 or 2004, he was the second owner.

I just got a call from a chap in Australia who has a white 993 RS CS right hand drive - that he bought new. He was saying that Australia got 10 Club Sports (4 x white, 2 x speed yellow, 3 x black and one guards red). He has a picture of all the 10 cars when they arrived there - which I have asked for him to send over. I just have to find the money to buy this white one now...........

Andrew.

Andrew, very interested to see the photo of the Australian cars,,,,on previous internet based discussions some of the cars out there appeared to have bolt in cages rather than the "911 RS M003" designated welded in Matter cages of the European CS cars...The photos may well show the cages as we know them, it would be great to see, any chance you could post it or forward it on, for those of us sad enough to be excited by such things? [:D]

This is the image of the 10 993 RS Clubsports when they arrived in Australia. I will post better images when I get some more.

Andrew, many thanks......I can't be sure, but from the photo, the yellow car at the front, gives the clearest view, their is little evidence looking through the rear window of a factory welded cage fitted ?...I am not sure because the photo is small, maybe they did bolt in cages at the dealership...if, on the off chance...(I am not commiting here) that is the case, hardly makes the cars factory m003 does it? [;)]

Yep, agree with Paul, I thought all Ozzie 993 RS CS had to have bolt in cages for legal reasons. There was a thread on this somewhere about 12 months back. I bet Ben S knows.

mmm...the cars do look "stripped" however there are no cages to be seen![8|]

We have a deposit on the blue car in the showroom, the person concerned has not yet viewed the car. We are also lucky enough to have 3 other people on a list if that sale does not conclude (i think it will). One customer called me interested in the blue 993 RS CS who has a 997 GT2 that he bought new last year for about ÂŁ140K, he has done 3k miles and just got a price last week of ÂŁ90k to trade it in !. He now wants to buy a 993 RS CS! Luckily I have 3 x 993 RS cars on the horizon, 1 x UK Clubsport, 1 x UK regular 993 RS and 1 x 993 RS Clubsport from Australia (maybe we should call it a nearly/CS !) Thanks for the intetest, Andrew.

Andrew, well done on selling the blue car, no doubt a discerning buyer! [;)]

Back to the 10 Australian cars, as the collective have established they may well be "Nearly" CS.... down to the dealer fit bolt in cage.

However, one thing occurred to me, if they were in fact regular M002(RS) with M003(CS) body kit, then they probably would not have come with the single mass flywheel or the G50/32 gearbox of the M003(CS)......I wondered if they had the G50/31 from the regular RS? (I wouldn't be surprised).

Any chance you would be able to let us know when the car arrives, to tidy up a few loose ends for those of us (me) sad enough to care! [:D]

Chris, CS has slightly lower 5th & 6th ratios, hard (for me) to tell in driving both though....cup G50/30 has even more track focussed ratios.

You really notice the difference in gearing when jumping between a Carrera C2 and any RS, this to me is one of the most obvious improvements! [;)]

Know a guy in Aus who knows owners / whereabouts of all the Aussie Clubbies so will ask him about the gbox question Paul..... or we just wait for one of those cars to arrive at Gmund.

As for the swiss g/box.... the diff yodels rather than grinds coffee.

Picked the car up yesterday.

Thanks to all those who have answered my questions along the way. Its been a learning curve on these cars and some of you know far too much for your own good and should start getting out more :)

The car looks and feels like brand new. 250 miles added already and cant wait to add more. Feels very special to drive and the noise from inside is intoxicating.

Andrew / Stuart - Thanks for making it so easy and nice set up you have up there. Nice stock of cars on display there too.

Mike

Thanks JS.
The car will be used yes, Last years track day count was a massive one day.
A few other hobbies have been put on hold due to young family so hoping to get a few more days this year.
