993 to 300 bhp at Ninemeister

So, my query was: has anyone here had 9M's 300bhp tweaks done to their car? : "Up to 300hp with Motronic ECU, cat bypass, KN air filter, ECU live remap"

I believe the standard ECU is the Motronic (so leaving that as is) then they are giving you a bit more air in and freeing up the exhaust a bit and then a live remap.

Do 9M do the live remap in house or use Wayne at Chip wizarsds. (I thought 9M told me they used Wayne)

As a package for £1000 it is probably okay.

Next step would be changing the ECU and getting rid of the MAF. Much more money and only worth doing if you tracked the car seriously.

If you just want 300bhp go straight to Wayne.

I had my 993 C2 (non vario ) remapped by Wayne Schofield in May 2010 for around £300 and it now has 300bhp.There is nobody better providing you do not mind the drive to Rochdale. The remapping takes around 3 hours .

As a pointer the map can take all day! I was there about 6 hours as there was a flat spot on the pre run, he diagnosed the issue, fixed the mechanical fault and raised the map! No point in mapping a car with an underlying problem and Wayne wont!

In case u look at the map and think his dyno was out at the start, he did claim the Porsche quoted figures generally sat on the side of caution. Plus I cant say if it had some kind of map before my purchase!

This guy knows Porsche inside out and he maps some of the Carrera Cup teams!

Agreed it can take longer if there is a problem, fortunately mine was OK.
Wayne is very particular and deals with several race cars.

Guys, done anyone have any other contact details for Chip Wizard other than 01706 651 000? Just tried calling but no answer....

According to another forum he has stopped working from his work shops oop north and now has a roving commission.

I believe you book him and he then books time at a rolling road.

Had no problem reaching Wayne by email and went up to see him yesterday. He is using rolling roads elsewhere at the moment (as his unit is being redeveloped for housing). Yesterday I went to the rolling road at NineMeister (9m) which is actually very well set up for aircooled 911's .

Have to say how impressed I was with Wayne - matches up to everything I've heard about him.

My 993 C4, which recently had a top end rebuild and re-ringing (following a snapped cam), was unfortunately down on power at the outset before Wayne started (277bhp) despite having RS cams fitted at the same time as the rebuild. Even more concerning when you realise that the 9m dyno tends to be on the 'generous' side (see figures from an earlier post about a 993 outing to 9m). Wayne was able, after some considerable time (he's very thorough), to get the power up to 293bhp but it was showing a dip at the top end plus the engine was very reluctant to accept much (if any) ignition advance at the bottom end. All of this points to some potential problem with the engine and Wayne and Colin (B) felt that there might be an issue with the cam timing (inlet closing too early and strangling the top end) - other possibilities include the varioram and/or resonance flap - although Wayne felt pretty sure they were working (but it could be an obscure problem with the flap).

Given the engine, 293bhp was the best possible whereas 300bhp+ should have been easily achievable given a good engine with RS cams.

So all in all I'd highly recommend Wayne as, not only did he get the best of the engine, but provided a good insight into possible causes of the problems - he really knows these cars well.

Now the search starts for the possible causes of my engine being down on the expected power.
