993RS..."The best Ever 911..QED"

Paul, Just because we'll be looking like two bookends of middle England come the first week of January don't get too familiar - it's Mr Chester if you don't mind

They are very special 911's whichever way you look at it [:)]

Except that they are not 911s they are 993s[:-]

This is a 911

John, I would agree with Club Sport, your 993RS is one of the best examples that I have seen.
Paul, I am not unhappy and the more articles about 911 RS the better. My opinion is that comparing a standard 993RS with two 964RS clubsports (both with serious modifications) was hardly a fair comparison when the purpose of the article was to find out "which is really the best and why?"

Cheers
Jeff

Neither of the 964 CS' are modified. Stuarts car only has suspension work that we think was done at the factory...no engine mods at all. My car is totally standard, no suspension or engine mods.

I think the comparison, like everybody has already said, was on road conditions. Since that article I have changed all of my suspension and found that it wasnt running normal RS setup but something much more extreme. Very high rate springs and lots of other questionable parts which didnt make it too much fun on the road.

All in all though, good to see 4 RS in one article. A first for any of the mags I think!?

I have my own view on the "best". I don't believe journalists (when their view is different from mine[;)]) so I look to Mr 911 himself, Walter Rohl. He gets to drive them all, has the pick of cars to drive "back from the office" and what has he bought this year? 964RS! If that's the car Walter chooses, it's good enough for me[:D]

pressing
Sorry Mr Chesterton sir,are you with the mafia!![8D] The 5th of Jan is going to a fine dry day, already booked the weather.
These articles are typical, why did they not have 2 standard 64 rs to make a comparison with a standard 993rs
A good article would be 2x64rscs and 2x 993rscs and even better a 64 cup and 993 cup also for good measure.
But yes great to see any info on the special rs cars for sure, only jesting about you 64 boys being upset!![;)]
May be we should do are own article for the club mag some time.
John of course its the best road/track car[:D]

So you are chopping yours in for a LHD version just like Walter I take it ? [:D]

Paul I think you are right it would be good for the club mag to do a proper RS article......only thing is who would be the unbiased arbitrator??

The models that followed the 911 (i.e 964, 993, 996 and 997) only used the RS marketing spin to try and give their lumbering great overtyred lumps some cred.

My car is better than your car[:'(]

[:)][:D][;)][:)][:D][;)][:)][:D][;)]

I am sure you are right and your car is absolutely marvellous, great to see such enthusiasm [;)]

Surely we are all fortunate to own such fantastic cars, even though some of us may own lesser versions of the marque.

says a man with a gayman![:D]
Paul i can be fairly unbiased,as have been in the past.
Especialy as i have now joined the water /kettle brigade, lost my way at the moment with oil cooling v water cooled.

Paul, wasn't going to mention your kettle and foray over to the dark side [:)]

Pleased for you...look forward to seeing it, I won't get too close as I tend to dribble uncontrollably whenever I see or hear one...

The prospect of your good self and Lord Chester on track in '07 with your new toys is going to be very special......I do hope the registration process runs smoothly for you both....

only thing is who would be the unbiased arbitrator??

I would like to put myself forward. As one of the older, hence far more experienced, members, and having worked as a development engineer for Ford in the seventies, I must be well qualified for this onerous task. [:)]

I suggest the Route Napolean would make an excellent road test and perhap the 'Ring for the track comparisons. Failing that I could use the A272 and Oulton Park.

I have yet to finish reading the article so I haven't yet read the conclusion. You guys!

I read the article and thought it was better than many of the articles found in these Total 911GT & porker world type mags.

Although the author came to the correct conclusion, it appears the mint green 964 clubsport was the car which stayed in his thoughts for a few days, now if only he had sampled a standard spec 993 clubsport it may have been a completely different article....Still the chances are so remote of finding such a car in the UK, it doesn't bear consideration [;)]

Walter isn't unbiased enough for you?
So you are chopping yours in for a LHD version just like Walter I take it ?
No, because for WR to drive a RHD car in Germany would be as silly as somebody driving a LHD car in the UK while RHD was still available. [:D]

nice reply simon.
how do you put the highlight boxes from a prev message in your reply message?
Paul i am sure i can find a bib some where, you can then sit in .We are hoping to get 3 or even 4 on track at the same time, now that will be special, the hardest part for me and john is the damn waiting. But a lot cheaper than flying them in,at 8k a car!

Paul

If you copy text, you can then highlight it and hit the "quote" button which is the speech bubble above where you type.To make sure it is the right button, place the cursor over the icon and it waill say "Add quote tag".

The mag is still worth buying for the turbocharge v supercharge article!

Thanks Jeff.

Love the comment from P.Raby ..."one of the best-sorted 964s I've ever experienced"
