996 Insurance shock

Just got the renewal in for the 996 ('97) from Norwich Union.
46, full NCD, 8000 miles, Glasgow postcode, £920 excess.
Premium: £406.
WTF? Carole Nash want more for my 944!

We insured the S2 via Sainsbury's this year, and saved money on the previous Classicline policy.

Cheaper excess, no milage restriction, and insurance not invalidated if the car sits on the drive as opposed to in the garage overnight.

I'm not very far from you Paul - maybe Glasgow's just getting much safer. [;)]

Adrian Flux, 996 C2 Tip, East London postcode and max NCD. Originally 920 for a renewal, then got them down to early 800's then after phoning around down to 790! Not too bad!

Give Aon a try also - they were really competitive at my renewal time. From the quote I got and the quotes I know others have had, C. Nash might as well pack up and go home. They either don't want Porsche risk anymore, or they're relying on those stupid enough to go with them. They quoted me £1,900 and I ended up paying Aon £690!!!!

I am so jealous of all these discussions of insurance in the hundreds of pounds!
I just got insured on an MY2002 996 tip cab..30yrs old ...1 yrs NCB..N.London garaged with Tracker Horizon....quotes came in from....

Tescos (my previous insurers) at...erm.....sorry sir not at any price.
Sonningfeld (insurance agent) £5,500

Then a ring around all the ads in the back of Porsche Post gave me a range of £3,500 to £2,200 which I eventually haggled to £2,000 (£400 cheaper than my Boxster 2.5 insurance!)

Specifically

Performance Marque £2,873
Tailored insurance £3,500
Adrian Flux £3,399
Classic Line £2,200
Academy insurance £2,000

£440 for the Boxster S on an unlimited mileage policy. £250 excess with UK breakdown & legal cover.

33yr old male, 3pts and off road parking.

Ive had some good quotes using confused.com
996 C2 2002 = £640 with Admiral
996 C4S 2003=£860 with AA
38 yrs old 7 years NCB

Do Aon do fleet insurance? I've been thinking about getting a multicar policy but if the 996 is only going to be £400 I think it might be academic this year.

Mik - I'll keep my eyes open for your S2!

PS To offset any envy it just cost me £500 to get my 944 throught its MOT, not helped by me putting a jack through the offside sill while trying to repair the handbrake... :(

996 C2 Cab, West Sussex, 31 9 yrs NCB, driveway, no points, 8,000 miles per year, Tracker, £660 with Admiral

I'll look out for you too sir [8D] (although living within a mile of Sytners Glasgow OPC, I tend to see quite a few cars out and about......I flash them all anyway [;)] )

Hi,

I have just renewed with A Manning (01491 578759) , who now operate the offical PCGB insurance policy. They came out to our January regional meeting. They were very competive. (I phoned a lot of companies up.) Matching excess at 500 pounds they were only £5 more expensive than the cheapest I could find.

BUT and it's a bit BUT they also cover track days and that is now track day that is organised by company registered with the Associate track day traders. Which does include the PCGB organised events.

Woohoo, take to book some track time :)

Yup. Mannings for me.
£356 last year, £350 this year. All with trackday cover and track excess £750 ( normal excess £150).And thats for a 993turboX50 with agreed value £50,000.
Mind you, I am a pensioner living in lotus land.
