Can't see the Turbo getting a facelift so soon... thought the facelift was for the Carrera then Boxster and Caymans? Turbo would be quite further down the line...
You may well be right THX, could be with the GT3 for MY010 but as the 996TT didn't get any true facelift we don't have a timeline history to compare like the other models & word is the TT will get an upgrade with the other cars.
Lets face it with a 414/420bhp M3 the Audi R10 due soon.. etc etc, it won't hurt to add a few more horses via direct injection to keep the Turbo near top of the pile?
Maybe short Model years introduced to make this come forward by 6 months, but don't hold your breath. It's not like Porsche sales are way down so they need to attract more customers! There's still a year waiting list on a new Turbo!!!

I did some serious screaming and got my MY08 Turbo Coupe order down from 13 months to 8 months. The Turbo Cab waiting list was over 2 years back when I ordered mine. If the backlog has clearered it must be because of false facelift rumors, or people swapping orders to GT3/GT2 after reports about how good they are compared to the Turbo.
Either way, I certainly wouldn't wait to get your order in...

I'm on the brink of ordering a turbo as well. 2-3 months lead time sounds about right orchard. The 12 month stuff is just salesman guff to put pressure on the sale. I think it'll be very difficult to get a build slot for a GT3 now; GT2 easier than GT3 especially if you are a repeat from new buyer, but still difficult.
The GT3 order book closed last May. The final cars are being built this month.
My best information is that 2008 will see 'facelifts' and new technology across the range. I think all the models will benefit, from 987 to 997TT (although probably not GT2 and Cayenne), with official announcements early in the year (probably Geneva in March). Existing model production would be cut back as the various new models are rolled out from mid-year on.
A second series GT3 will probably follow within a couple of years.

I am seriously considering holding back for the face lift but only if it arrives in 08 - it really is a conundrum........

Ronnie C - are you concerned ( as i am ) about taking delivery in Mar /Apr of a new turbo to discover in a matter of weeks a later model has arrived. It will hit hard on residuals of the older model.

Yes, it's the only thing holding me back right now as there will be a few significant changes to the 911 range in 2008, not least DFI which will push the Turbo into the 500 bhp range, and lots of indicators suggesting the PDK finally. The same happenned with my previous deposit which I switched from a 996C4S build slot to my 997C2S, and I'm so glad I did.

This facelift chat has gone on and on.. almost from the launch of the 997 []
Your residuals will drop whichever model you have.. maybe even more so with the chat of the facelift...
Whilst I do appreciate that the costs do come to bear on it, I can say that I have had way too much fun driving the car... along with the many others..

True to an extent.
However, there is a world of difference in delaying an order by 3 or so months as would be the case for people looking at the 997 v2, to holding off for 4 years as would be the case for a 998.
But frankly skipping a few months is one thing, once your a year or two out you may as well buy what you want now and enjoy it. You could find a year alter cirsumstances have changed and you can't buy it or there is another excuse, then another......
These are great cars you wont regret what you've bought now. If your really cocnerned buy the Powerkit and future proof yourself with a future classic.
Nearly 7 k in its sooo much faster than new and feels significantly faster than the stock C2S,as for the exhaust note, it just gets better...........

My contacts are saying Set 08, (58 plate) for facelift Turbo with DFI 500+bhp. Also sports exhaust option will be available then. I think the factory want to keep 09 free for Panamera
