997 face lift

Just popped down to my local OPC to get two new Pirelli's fitted, only place I could find that actually had any in stock and I certainly paid a premium for them!

Anyway, I asked about the facelift, specifically a C2S. The guy told me that the MY09 would be facelifted so from about September 2008. It will get DFI and he expects output will be c.380bhp. Re:pDK, he said that it will be a 7 speed box, but this won't be available until MY10 on any model - incl. turbo.

He said that full and final details of the spec of the facelift would be available only in July 08. So all in all, pretty well what the press and this forum are speculating - albeit the PDK news isn't so good, I quite fancied that. I'll stick to manual for now then.......

Lead times for the normally aspirated models he said are about 3mths right now, but expects this to lengthen as the facelift gets closer.

Placed order for facelift C2S last weekend. As per others on this thread, I have been told September/October 08 delivery. Was told facelift TT will probably be around a year later.

Quizzing my OPC - PDK won't be in the Turbo for some time to come.........

They are also pessimistic about the power hikes we've all been talking about, they keep rattling on about the priority to reduce emissions and imrpove fule economy

Nice to have consistent messages from the OPC's isn't it.... [:D]

Was at my OPC which is Bournemouth this weekend. They told me the 997 facelift is being launched to dealers at Silverstone in June with deliveries starting MY 09. PDK is close but wont be available on first cars. What they told me about the facelift is already accurately prediccted on this forum. Turbo will not be facelifted for some time as it already has LEDs and different bumper and cill configurations. No idea when you will be able to ordr a new GT3 again but happy to take a letter of intent. They said they only have one GT2 to sell which is the case for each dealer. Bornemouth OPC has been sold to Inchacape who plan to open a new Porsche dealearship between Southampton and Portsmouth

They did a great job in trying to sell me a neasrly new GT3. Anyone fancy a well cared for 997 Turbo with 6,200 miles on the clock?

Ronnie,-GT2 easier to obtain than a GT3 ? Thought they were
both impossible to get. Will have a GT2 if you know a way.

I'm in - placed deposit on Facelift 997 today for September delivery.

Now, I am going to have to spent eons picking a spec and trying to keep to a budget! The exclusive broucher is mighty tempting....

Sorry a little more info...

I have gone for the C2S and have until July to confirm spec, which is about when full details, launch party, and full specs / options are available.

Saw OPC today

Tried to get some more info on face lift - said that new engines would improve performance enough to knock a couple of tenths off the 0-60 time for each (ie from 5 to 4.8 secs for C2, 4.8 to 4.6 for C2S)

Said they thoguht that it would not improve overall peforamnce as much as powerkit (hmm yeah!)

Comfirmed that touch screen Navigation would be available and DSG.

Said Turbo facdelift wouldn't be for another year or so and no DSG with the Turbo

Turbo facelift waiters might want to keep an eye on this thread over on Rennteam:

http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=997turbo&Number=416516&page=0&fpart=1

RC has indicated once again that the facelift may not be keeping it's current professional grade GT1 derived engine, and instead moving to a consumer grade engine (like in the current Carrera).

Said they thought that it would not improve overall peforamnce as much as powerkit (hmm yeah!)

I'm thinking the facelift with DFI, DSG and powerkit (I'm assuming the X51 option will still be available) will run to 410 hp and 0-60 around 4.2/4.3 seconds?

A porsche magazine recently fiugured the current C2S at 4.3 secs to 60, 2 up with a full tank of fuel and a 6mph headwind....So if the facelift gets the extra power then you'll do more like 4.1 secs[:D][:D][:D]
