To All

A special thank's to all who took their car's along to the launch evenings hope they valeted them ok and I hope you enjoyed it .I heard I got a mention in dispatches.I did receive an invite but decided not to go, as so many people asked if they could attend, and were told it was for invited guest's only and members who displayed their cars. Felt by staying away I could not be seen to be abusing my role.

Regards

I am thinking of going tomorrow (Saturday) but the thought of crawling through the Forth Bridge traffic is a turn off. If it's not persisting down I may go on the bike (Oh how OPC's like bikers showing up!)

John H

Anyone else going?

Brian,

Excellent nights. Shame I had to drive home as the Champagne was flowing like water. Edinburgh had the best selection of owners cars. There were only 2 at Glasgow! I could have supplied my 964 RS too to fill the gaps!

The new speed bumps outside the Glasgow cetre are a real problem for lowish cars. 1.5K damage already to a Ferrari I was told!

My nephew really enjoyed the event. My wife really enjoyed the canapes;O) Shame you didn't come along as there were only a few people I knew and only 1 in Edinburgh.

A good swan song for my 3.2 which gets picked up by new owner tomorrow. Sorry to see it go after 10 years.

Thanks for including my car.

Charles

John,

The roadworks on the Forth road bridge mean I will not be venturing south.

Chris.

Hi John,

No I won't be going either. That Forth Road Bridge is a pest![]

Brian, you should have gone with your invite. You work damn hard for us and deserved it![;)]

(we'd talk about you behind your back though[:D])

Brian - I agree with Jane, you work very hard and deserve all the perks you can get, you shouldn't ever feel you're abusing your position.

Now the region 2 RO, that's a different matter, he's just a freeloader [;)]

Contrary to what the weather forcast promised, there is even a hint of blue sky here this morning, so I guess it's time to get the motorbike out.

What traffic jams?

Don't hold your breath John, it's dull in Dunfermline this morning[]

Get your waterproofs out with the bike!![:D]

it's dull in Dunfermline this morning

Hmmn, and it was dull at Sytner Porsche too [&:]

I rode over to Edinburgh this morning, only to find that the bridge works have been cancelled this weekend, good of them to let us all know, huh? Of course arriving by bike makes you invisible to the staff at a Porsche garage (is it just me, or has the atmosphere cooled since Sytner took over?)

I had rather assumed that the display of 911's organised for the midweek VIP launch was to be held over for weekend. Not so, all there was was a single 997 in an empty showroom, with two registered ones outside, presumably demos. 2 silver, one grey, doesn't anyone ever order Porsches in any other colour these days? The whole thing was an anti-climax frankly.

Rode downtown, and parked wherever I pleased to do a spot of shopping (frankly the only way to go near Edinburgh these days) and managed to dodge the showers all the way home. A good day out, despite the hurricane force winds on the bridge[:-]

And the 997? ... undeniably a fabulous car, but ... somehow seems not to have the same soul that the older cars had. Perhaps if they would just paint one something other than friggin' silver! [][]

John

Originaly the launch day was to be for PCGB and the members cars ,but was changed at some stage ,this is why their where no members cars there at the weekend .It was a big
task to get them for the launch never mind all weekend,I suppose if they where offered a new 997 for the weekend that would have been a different story .

Again thank't to all who offered their car and time

Brian,

I appreciate the effort you put into this, and those members who lent their cars.

I am however a bit miffed that Sytners extended this only to their VIP evening, and sod the rest of us!

The 997 launch was a quality affair and you could tell Porsche GB had a hand in it.
I'm just a long standing customer and certainly no VIP and it was a shame fewer PCGB members wern't there as we --the club got a good mention as did Brian.
The car looks very nice, 993 front with a 4S rear, the option list would buy a nice semi in Lenzie! but it is still fun after all these years ( lotto's 10 yr old) to spec a lottery win car though I wonder what a fully loaded car would weigh?

See there you are underselling yourselve again Mike you are a VIP .I agree it should have been more club based as I am sure a good number of new 997 owners will be new owners of another marque in a years time ...not true Porsche owners I suppose it happens in all prestige marques there will always be the ones that must have the latest to sit on the drive in Newton Mearns.
