997 Turbo modded & Remapped at DMS Automotive

Took my car to DMS Automotive last week and had a series of modifications done to the car. They are as follows:

Kline Innovation Exhaust
BMC Air Filter
GT2RS Intercoolers
DMS Remap.

The Kline Exhaust is a fantastic piece of engineering. Beautiful to look at too, shame it has to be completely covered up once the bumpers go back on.

The team at DMS were excellent, dedicated, relentless in getting the job done and knowledgeable.

I'm writing a full article which will hopefully be in Porsche Post in the next couple of months, but for now I shot some video whilst there and combined it with some still shots taken on the day.

Let me know what you think. I'm sure you'll be impressed by the results (of the mods, not my video).

If anyone can shed any light on how to embed a youtube video in this thread please let me know!

You'll need a new stronger clutch with that torque. Especially when it get colder and you are accelerating say at 50mph in 5th gear...

I'd also recommend updating your geo too to cope with the additional power. Chris F knows what magic to apply :)

It certainly all looks like quality work and agree with your comment on the exhaust but as long as the sound is much improved it should not matter that much. Tell is about the sound when you have put some miles onto the car. I was thinking of going down the same route as Alex did in his car but had been contemplating DMS as well so it will be worthwhile to read up on your experience. There can't be much difference in costs as the workmanship is pretty much the same albeit the purchase price of the parts.

I am in the mixed camp about the clutch recommendation from Alex. Theoretically, maybe, but see how it goes.

Happy driving.

There is a slight drone at 70mph but interestingly it goes away at 80mph. I drive back from Southampton which is about 300 miles and it was louder but not overly loud. I'll try to get some further footage with the sound from the exhaust.

Just had the geo done, are you suggesting changing it from the standard setup?

Here's some shots of the exhaust

Have to say, am loving the sound. I find myself taking the car out now windows down no stereo just to listen to the exhaust note. Haven't done that since I sold my C2S with PSE! Fantastic.

i dont hink he meant change it now but moving forward would you use an even more high perf oil??
personally i wouldnt thnk any advance on mobil1 was necessary but others may know better [:D]

Now the engine is modded, does it need more regular engine oil changes?
And will the oil for a standard turbo be ok?
Because you will be working the engine harder surely.

Is there more advanced oil than Mobil 1? If there was wouldn't Porsche recommend it? I usually get my oil changed once a year anyway.

Are you sure they printed it? I've been trying to get my articles in for five months and I initially got palmed off by Chris Horton and then I got a polite 'thanks but no thanks' from Chris Seaward. Pretty shocking really.

I don't think they did....
Its strange they ask for article but then don't print them- especially technical articles.. however I'd imagine that aftermarket systems etc may not be the preference of Porsche cars....

Well I thought that all aspects of Porsche ownership should be covered. I was submitting to Stephen Mummery when he was there, he had no issues printing them.

The thing is they are advertising asking for contributors (there is an item on page 16 of the current edition) but then not printing stuff that is submitted. And they waste space printing a photo of a CGT with 'some bloke' who they are not quite sure who it is, just because it's a nice car??

I'm a new memeber (997 Gen 2 Turbo S) and so sorry if anything is posted elsewhere, but what's it like to drive now?

Is the low down pull improved?

How's the rest of the car held up to the extra power?

Bob

The car is fantastic after the mods. Completely changed how it drives. The power is endless, almost violent when I floor it. DMS a have an excellent remap for the Turbo S. Look at these videos. This car had just a remap, no hardware.
