Guys (and Gals),

With my ear to ground and a pill on my tongue, I can reliably announce that the new Gen 2 Turbo with PDK will be announced next January (2010). [;)]

Don't forget - where you heard it first! [:)] [8|]

Regards,

Clive

I think I'll wait for a while until I get excited.. Porsche have to raise their game a lot more than just a few additional BHP and PDK, the game had moved on seriously with the R8 V10 and the GTR
Mind you I think the real cost of the GTR is shown in the cost of the 'special' version being released shortly.

Mind you I wonder if I will actually get an invite to something a long last [:(]

In the same price bracket, I personally would rather have an R8 V10 over a 997.2 Turbo with PDK and a A91 engine.

Saying that, I think I would rather save £££££ and have a 997.2 GT3 given what I know now about the cheapy suspension Porsche puts on non GTx cars.

Actually we knew this info back in Jan:[;)]

I wondered who'd be the first to spot that! [8|]

Think I might also pass on that particular model, myself. :ROFLMAO:

That would be a HUGE step down for you Clive so yes definitely a miss [:)] The GT2/Scud/LP560-4 are in a totally different league to the stock Turbo - facelift/PDK or not. You're a very lucky boy [:D][:D][:D]

Me too!

Interestingly bumped into an R8 owner over the weekend - had some interesting things to say. Great on a track but he didn't like it on the road at all, so you'd have to change the suspension on that one as well Alex.[:-]

997.2 Turbo with PDK and Ceramics, hmmmm[8|]

Must resist

Honestly with the current economy, unless the new one turns out to be something really special, I think I'll carry on tinkering a little with my C2S and wait for the 997 replacement Turbo

Interesting - IF rumours are true about the engine changes and that it's so close to the end of the 997 cycle (what's around the corner sort of thing) it would take some convincing for me to pursue an order - wait and see.

Hi Alex,

I've been reflecting on what you said and I'm not sure I entirely agree with you.

In the right hands, Turbo is a pretty potent weapon.

In the real world, I would back a well driven TT with PCB's and PDK against any of those supercars with average driver aboard.

True, the BIG 3 do stiffen the sinus and race the blood, particularly in a dashing young Turk like yourself, [8|] but in an old Has-Been like me, the more rounded character of the Turbo is definitely attractive.

Sitting by the fireside with pipe and slippers, I could be quite content knowing I have a 911 TT sitting in the garage! [;)]

(But not just yet! [:D] )

Regards,

Clive

I'm surprised if the Gen 2 997TT is still so far off.

It's quite late in the 997 life cycle, everyone knows it is coming, and it must be hurting current TT sales - although there are massive savings to be had.

This was more my point rather than fastest A to B in the real world. The stock Turbo just never got me excited with its turbo lag, muted exhaust and under-steering suspension. The GT2, Scud, and LP560-4 do the lot!

Saying all that, my pic of the 3 would be the LP560-4 as it has 4wd and is made by Audi so would be more 'practical' than the other 2. Plus those looks
