997 Register Wales Weekend
Rob and I felt it was time once again to have a register get together, Drive and Dine.
We thought what better roads than those in the South of Wales, well actually those in the North of Wales, namely the EVO triangle. Those readers of the magazine will already know how great the driving roads are in the area, even with the well reported Police presence!!

The idea is a weekend that hopefully the majority will join us for the whole weekend, where others may prefer to join us on one of the days to suit your geographical location. Partners are encouraged to come along as this is a sociable scenic event and not a road race day.

The dates are 20th -21st October, not that far away but hopefully not too far that winter will come charging in on us. We are doing a full weekend of what can be classed as some of the best driving roads and stunning scenery that the UK has to offer with an overnight stop and dinner on the Saturday night.

Saturday Morning-
Meet at the Ponderosa Café in North Wales www.ponderosacafe.co.uk
Depart at 10.30am , Drive the EVO triangle and head in a southerly direction via the Valleys and winding roads. Visiting Devils bridge before heading to the Hotel
180 miles

Saturday Afternoon-
Arrival at the Hotel Metropole, Llandrindod Wells with full use of the pool and facilities. www.metropole.co.uk The Hotel offers a large carpark covered by CCTV.

Saturday Evening-
Dinner in the Restaurant as part of the Half Board offer from the limited menu. Choice from one of three of each course
Based on two sharing a room, £79.50 pp, depending on numbers we may be offered a group rate.

Sunday Morning-
Leaving the Metropole Hotel at 10am. Driving the Reservoirs and Dams of mid Wales, Devils Staircase and then heading towards the Brecon Beacons for afternoon tea, finishing early afternoon towards the end of the M50.
180 miles

Whilst it is short notice, we felt after the recent Ragley event it would be great to have a get together to enjoy our cars and company.
The driving will hopefully finish in early afternoon in order for us to enjoy the driving in daylight and our passengers to enjoy the spectacular views across the area.
This will leave the Saturday evening to socialise and be merry, that and dinner!
Sunday will finish mid afternoon to allow people to make their way home.

As with our previous events route maps will be sent out prior to and once again on the day.
We thoroughly hope you will be able to join us at this event, we would very much like to of done this earlier in the year- but the weather would not have made this possible.

If you have any locations that you have found on your own trips we are more than happy to accommodate those ideas within the itinerary.
This event is open to club members and 997 enthusiats [;)]

What to do next;
*Please post below if you would like to attend and PM us with your contact details.
*You will need to book your own rooms with the Hotel directly (booking reference: Porsche weekend) £79.50 per person Half Board
*Charge your cameras!!

Definitely interested but will need to work on Chris, we have guests arriving the following week and she likes to be well prepared.

Guys - the idea of the trip is fab and we would have loved to have come. I am afraid however we are away at the time - you'd have to be in November for us to make it

Next time we're up for it though

Hi, Rob and Gary an excellent idea and area. Jean and I will try to join in on either Sat or Sun work schedule will dictate. I will confirm in a couple of weeks time which leg we will join,

Cheers

Paul

Jill and I hope to be able to join you on this trip thro Wales - will ring you at the weekend!

Sounds fun, Lesley and I are up for it. What time meet on Saturday morning? Need to find somewhere for the Friday night as we live in Surrey.

Looks like a great weekend, and I love that part of the country however too short notice and other things going on.

Have a good un!

I will be looking into timings this weekend.
I will also perhaps look into a suggested place for those on the Friday night, we stopped just up the road from Chester OPC last time I was in the area, also a great time to visit the designer discount centre (apparently [])

This looks like a fantastic weekend, shame I have a 993 or I would join you !!

Funny thing about Wales.
From this neck of the woods you have to pay to get in, but you can out for free!
Wouldn't more money be made if it were the other way round? [8|]
Regards,
Clive

How'd it go?

It was a little wet on Sunday, however the roads in mid Wales were pretty damn amazing as they were last time, the weather caused rolling clouds which were stunning to watch when above them...[:D]

It only rained in Wales !! dry going from and coming back into England!! I met up with another friend who was pretty taken aback by the area in general and is hoping to join us on the weekend.

Certainly excellent photo potential as you know [:)]

Any more takers for either days ??
Your more than welcome to join us for just the Saturday or Sunday

garyw

A few people have asked if the weekend is going ahead, I can confirm it certainly is..[:D]

A have booked my room at the hotel on the Saturday night along with a table for dinner (for the expected group)
If you mention the Porsche weekend when speaking to them (or ask for Greg) they will make sure you get the better rate of £79.50 per person half board.

If you fancy just joining us for the day then do let us know, however the start details are in the original post so you could join us on the day.

Myself and the current Mrs. White (Judith) [:)] hope to be in attendance and the hotel room has been booked!
We've just got to find our passports and North Wales now - rumour is it's somewhere north of Taunton!.
Regards,
Clive

bugger, that'll slow us down...[;)]

Clive don't worry about the passports, we know the secret ways in and out....[:D]
Great to have you and the wife along [:)]
