has anyone placed a deposit for a 997 yet or have any news on when its coming or what its going to look like? Latest rumour I' ve heard is that its 2004 MY, bigger (all round) will have 993 style lights and 380 bhp.

I HAVE JUST REGISTERED MY INTEREST BY LETTER WITH STRATSTONES OF WILMSLOW. THEY HAVE SENT ME AN ORDER FORM TO CONFIRM.

Whilst you may wish to keep the weight down, my view is that sat nav will go the way of air con. A few years ago air con was no big deal, now it is pretty much essential come resale, and sat will be the same.
Audio upgrade is the most important option, but whether it needs to be Porsche's upgrade or Bose is less obvious from a valuation perspective.

I had considered getting a 997S (had my name down in good time as well to get one late this year) but weakened and bought a 996 turbo instead, not a financially sensible option.
Certainly swapping for a 997S is the right thing financially, but there's more to it than money.
Kevin Cooke is swapping his C4S for a 996 GT3.

3 people, 3 different decisions. So I can't really comment on whether it is the right thing.
It's up to you and what you want to get out of it.

thanks Stuart

Its a tough decision - love the C4S but also like the look of the 997, the extra power and its "newness".

Not too sure about the chrono package - looks awful but the functions seem pretty worthwhile. Will think about sat nav

Financially not too sensible - but marginally better to change now than next year when C4S prices dip as the 997 C4 versions come out.

Had a deposit down for the September delivery (over a year) on a 997c2s.

Got the 4rse when they asked for lots more money and found out that not all options would be available, couldn't see a car before delivery etc etc so bought a 02 996 C2 instead but got a great deal and well pleased with it - saved £20k in the process so depreciation would have to be abslolutely savage to offset that!

Cheers
Paul

Rear Wiper an option?

Agree PCM will be a 'must have' on 997S.

I think Chrono looks awful.

Heated seats are wonderful in winter.

According to my OPC specific orders are not yet being taken, they haven't got full details themselves. What they have asked me to do is prepare an ideal specification based on the 996 and what we know about the 997. my choice of options will be:

Midnight blue with grey interior
Sound upgrade
CD Autochanger
Sun roof
Electric memory seats
Sat Nav
Auto dimming mirrors
Sports exhaust
Heated seats

Don't know if these are standard or optional in the 997 but i would also want:

Airkit
Alu package.
MOST.
Sat Nav.
Memory Seats.
Crested seats.

Later I would want:
Sports exhaust (but I would wait for Fabspeed to get their act together, just my preference)
A descent stereo system.
Khan or Techart wheels 19" (not keen on wheels on 997 pics I have seen so far)

I received the A5 'book' in the post today. Has the full spec., options, colours etc, but no price list.

I think a highly spec'd 997S, with some personalised detailing, will cost over £75k.

Tim

Orders most definitely are being taken. I've got a copy of the dealer pack with the car specs and all of the options that are available now, and those that aren't, along with all of the prices. I think brochures aren't far away, but if people post questions here I will list the prices.

Got a letter from my dealer today confirming my place on the list for a C2S and that a list of colours options and prices would be following very shortly. Roll on delivery !!!

Put down my deposit on Carrera S today. Very exciting. Got the full brochure.

Should there not now be a separate 997 Forum?

You can propose it (not sure how, but a mail to admin should provide the necessary info).
The main issue will be to find someone to volunteer to be the moderator.

OPC is after a £5K deposit for the later 997's ie TT and cabs.. still thinking as I am quite high on the list at the dealers.

Anyone with a 997 brochure... Can you do me a favour?

Can you tell me if there are any pictures of the car with equivalents of the GT3 seats? (The "bucket" seats).

If so are they any different to the current ones - or have they changed?

Thanks!
