Well....unbelievably it turned out to be a mostly dry day! Consequently we all had a fabulous time with loads of track time. 964s made their presence felt as we made up 13 of the 50 Porsches present. [:)] The track was superb and the etiquette pefect.

As ever Mike came along to record the day in photos and here are some linked photos to just a few of the 964s.

Well done for organising this Steve , and once again a good call on the weather [:D]

It was good to see a 964RS ( Kevin) and a 964 Cup ( Paul) out there , the latter was one to get out of the way of on one of my few visits to the track. I was a bit hesitant to lean on the new Dunlops and they certainly run a lot hotter than the 888s judging only by touching them . I need to borrow or buy a pyrometer ( infra red) to check.....so can home in on what pressures to run at.
Anyone ?

John,

they are pretty cheap (infra red) so just buy one. I'm sure ebay would show one up for 15quid or less. However, they are more use to understand the Geo settings than tyre pressures. TBH, starting with standard advised track hot pressures and adjusting to suit you is the better way forward.

Making changes based on surface temp of tyres, requires some help in the paddock to be timely, hence the decent teams use the ones with the probe, as they take longer to change temp.

Glad everyone had a good day.

Hi Hugh , thanks for that. I was at Goodwood last month on a trackday with the early car and there was a Toyo technical support man there who was available to check tyres over , I found the temp data he took ( taken at 3 points across tread width ) v interesting . It seemed to be a good guide as to whether you have overinflation . As I get older I need more support from quantitative analysis to fend off going slower. PS the Dunlops have temp probe holes !
