ah yes - the accelerometers - a key part to the awd system. It was very advanced and over-complicated to some, but certainly a high degree of integrated engineering - pitch, roll, wheel lock, and cross rear and to the front power adjustment. The issue is that until one of the axles loose grip and the system sends more power to the one with grip, the awd stays at its normal 61/39 split. The pdas works only when accelerating and the abs only when braking. You don't want the pdas on whilst turning - if the fronts bite and rear slips you get more front traction (and equal across the front). There is no wheel-to-wheel lsd function in the front. So you want to trail brake, swing the back out and nail it with all 4 wheels pulling. But that only works when at the turning point. Too early you go straight on, too late and you lose the advantage of the pull. You can drift them well also - just don't take your foot off the accelerator! They simplified it for the 993 - I think it cost far too much in the C4, and was also the simpler system actually seemed to help solve the understeer issue. The C4 was designed as a very very fast road car with traction control the key element, which also stopped ill judged cornering spinning the car backwards. Track speed cornering was not a design purpose - hence no race cars - the C4 lightweight special being an exception, but that the 959 type adjustable awd system. Mind you, in the wet, I am sure you will be faster in the C4....by miles. Dave did you need new accelerometers, or could they be adjusted - don't think they can but would be good to know - they are not cheap beasts?

It HAS been suggested but I'm resisting at the moment. I'm going to give them a decent clean - although it has already been done by RPM. They were quoted £1200 each the other day so I won't be rushing out just yet!!
I might keep and eye on eBay - and, more likely, give a few of the breakers a call, but I'm a tad nervous about second hand ones since there's every chance they may be as bad as mine. For £50 each I might be tempted but not for big bucks.
Just looking on eBay last night there are a lot of Corvette C4 accelerometers availble in the US which do look VERY similar going for $75 a time. Bet they're nothing like the Bosch ones though!!! Just my luck!!!
