Don't forget that it is the monthly meet at the Ace Cafe on Londons North Circular tomorrow Wednesday 29th August) and we have Patrick (333pg333) our very own Antipodean 944 enthusiast visiting whilst on his hols. I'll be coming down from Northampton to join the London 944 regulars and I hope as many others from the Register can be there to say hello and show our Brit hospitality (yes a warm 2nd hand beer and a limpwristed handshake :ROFLMAO:)

See you at the Ace [:)]

Cool!

I had better wash Beaky. But then if Simon is coming Beaky will look immaculate in comparison, no matter how dirty he is. [:D]

Ha ha, that's made my mind up too. The car hasn't been washed or vacumned since our family holiday and numerous day trips this school holiday and I was embarressed for Patrick to see it like this, but if Simon's is going to be there........ [;)]

Excellent!

However, if Fen is in the RS6 you need to factor in two fuel stops.

Quite. And having obtained the build sheet for the car I find it has an extra capacity tank (to be fair I think all RS6s did) - I can only imagine the embarassment of running out of fuel while exiting the filling station a normal size tank would risk [:(]

BTW I've now booked and I'm staying in Swindon so I can check in on the way to the smoke and then get back as late as I want after a central London bladder followed by a low altitude flight along the M4 when it's quiet [;)][:D]

I'm given to wonder if this is really the most appropriate vehicle for the wide open spaces of NZ? Perhaps a V8 Falcon or Holden Commodore would suit better.[:D]

Must remember to tell the man on the gate at the Ace that it doesn't matter how many Porsche components it has it still isn't coming in the car park.....they will be allowing Seats in next, and toasters, and that new silver remote hard drive......

Mine doesn't have any of those awful Porsche bits on it - you're thinking of the RS2.

I actually just filled up with 83 litres of V-Power after over 320 miles (but under 321 miles), so there you go - it's practically a Prius when left on the motoryway with the cruise set to sensible speed for a whole tank.

I can't even get near either Porsche at the moment - the tree-fellers are cutting down a hugh tree overhanging my land !!

That must be some tree if it takes three of them to do it[:D]

I'll not be there until after 7pm as I'm just in and have been informed I need to drop off some equipment for a Boys Brigade band practice at 6pm []

Great laugh!

I'm shattered and have to meet a new new client today so great start. I didn't get home until after 1:00.

The combined attack on the London Eye was brilliant. We left The Ace as a full squadron of 20ish motors and swooped in via the A4. We split into smaller attack groups on the Chelsea Embankment and then commenced final approach from all directions so as to avoid any Acac guns. I was proud to lead in a three 944s along the South Bank with another 2 backing up other attack groups comming in from the North and West. [:D]

Fin made a spectacular sight in his heavy bomber making his own way there in Lockheed Blackbirdesque mode.

Mission accomplished.

I can beat that. 00:40 on a very quiet M4 just past junction 5 I edged up to 70 and a bit (there is a rumour of the bit being 40, but of course that isn't true officer...) by way of sighting for an intended low-altitude flight to the lovely Swindon Ibis. All of a sudden there was a loud bang followed by several beeps from the dash and the tyre pressure light came on, in red. I coasted to jn6 off slip and got out to find that the tyre had indeed parted company with its air. Audi don't supply a spare (that space is needed for fuel, after all) and a bottle of sealant and a compressor weren't going to make a dent on an instant deflation at 70 and a bit mph (or not) followed by a couple of miles running flat, so I ended up gettting relayed to Swindon by the AA and ariving at 04:10 and then I had to lever £238 out of my wallet in Swindon Audi this morning for a P Zero Rosso.

I have to say that unlucky as it is to have the first total loss puncture in years at closing on 1am on the motorway on a night when I wasn't going home in a car with no spare it was also lucky in that no animals were harmed, nor indeed expensive rear quarter panels nor even arch liners. In terms of stability I have to say that had the car behaved like that with a tyre suddenly deflating at 110mph I'd be impressed. Of course I wasn't going that fast..

Bad news Mr Coull. - though alarms, and flashing warning lights, does further demonstrate Blackbird like qualities.

I have a view that the M4 is the unluckiest road in the country:-

My only speeding ticket was on the M4.

One night on the way home from a job in Bristol (at a speed of exactly 70mph with no other cars in sight) I rounded a swooping bend to spot a fox in the middle of the road. 70mph being what it is I didn't want to swerve so gently moved over to the left - so did the fox. I managed to readjust my trajectory to get to the middle lane to see Foxy do exactly the same thing. I ran right over the top of him.

Luckily, as it happens, I was in Jasper not Beaky and the fox got up and ran away. All I could find after the event was some strands of fox coloured fur on one of the brake diffusers. Had it been Beaky the splitter would have done exactly as the name suggests and there would have been bits of fox and destroyed 944 front end all over the place.

Perhaps the M4 isn't unlucky after all.
