After-Market Steering Wheels.

My current car came with a suede rimmed Momo example but I didn't find it terribly comfy to use for some reason. Now have a CS fitted which is luverly [:)]

I have a Momo I think its a Corsa- I believe it was offered as an option- but ido also have the original
just for Scotty's sake.
Cheers
Ron

CS wheel for me, with a coloured embossed shield in the centre. I think this means it is an after market one (Design 911?) but I rather like it. Good buy off PH classifieds!

Yes; originals have an embossed emblem. The early 'copies' (actually manufactured by the same Italian firm) had a plain horn push; some later ones have an emblem stuck on.

Like this one? Made by Atiwe (??) if I recall correctly.

Interesting as I bought as a non-original part.
I'll post a pic when the car is back.

My wheel for the race car look just like that one edh showed a picture of. For me it is pretty much perfect. My 968 has the clubsport wheel, I believe it was actually the standard wheel on the earliest UK 968's as a few ppl seem to have always had these wheels in their otherwise stock 968 coupe. I prefer the Momo as it is a touch thinner and maybe a touch smaller I am not sure. I also prefer leather to suede as I keep a very loose touch on the wheel and I find that with gloves on a suede wheel just gives me far too much grip, you can catch the wheel with your fingers brushing over it.

365mm.

Most of the Momo's are 350mm (although - as stated above, some (like the Race are available in 320mm).

Yes it does encroach slightly more, but I didn't find it a big issue. You can see the size difference from the lozenge in my pics here (one of which I've already posted )

After

Note: there are hi-resolution versions of each if you click the "full size" tab at the foot of each page.

I did have a genuine 968CS wheel, but I sold it because, as Neil says, its too thick to really get hold of.

The stitching to the leather is different as well.

The originals are on piece of hide with one seam at the bottom of the wheel. The copy has separate pieces of leather on the spokes.

I also have a copy which came from Porscheshop seven years ago. I have been very happy with it and it is a significant improvement over the original. I am starting to ponder a replacement now though as something thicker and slightly smaller might be fun.
