Altzen RS for sale again

At GT classics I see - no price yet. I notice, this states it was built on a cup shell, I always thought it was on an RS shell? I think this is a great car - but if you do buy it, dont stick a 3.8 in it, there has to be decent history on this car as it is out there somewhere.

If I win the lottery........

It's got loads of recent history.....Matt looked after it really well as did the current owner Karl...it's been been driven round Oulton Park by our very own Oldtimer [:D]

yes I've been in it with Matt, and I know a previous owner too. But I think the car probably has an interesting race history too, which is perhaps of more value.

I drove it too when Matt owned it. Don't underestimate it - that is one kick-ass turbo! [:)]

Without wishing to go too far off topic.......... I'm intrigued why the other two 964 RS Lightweights on Paul's website, with reasonable mileage, seemingly fairly unmolested, and priced waaaaaaayyy below Schmitz levels, seem to be hanging around. Time of the year ??? Des ????

I was thinking the same. Cracking cars those.

Last time I spoke to Paul he was raving about the touring saying it was unbelievable to drive, so tight, like new.

Amazon Green is going to have a limited market I think....

Prices are softening, its the wrong time of year, and the cars arent flying off the shelves. Dont want to talk prices down, but I think its true.

With RBS shedding ANOTHER 3,500 jobs alone prices of all cars will soften regardless if they not made anymore.
It's gonna be a very tough next 2 yrs unfortunately. If 60k can buy you a car that good now then 55k will in a yrs time.
Obviously I'd still like one tucked away though :)

It looks to be a case of 2 things really as David above pointed out Economy/car prices etc at the moment are far from rosy and not like to turn back to the upside for a while. Also I been looking at RS prices and 6 months ago they got a little silly people commanding really top money for just above average examples..what happens is then a couple come on the market that are priced more accurately they dont sell and things look a bit different....

Schmitz still seems to be turning them over, as do Especially Expensive Cars of Malton, so the trick seems to be to put astronomically high asking prices on them and they sell. If you price them realistically people obviously think something's wrong and they don't sell. The world is a funny place ..................

Have we found the ultimate example of a "giffen good" ??? (You'll all now need to go and dig out your economics A-level text books !)

Jamie

That is true about Scmitz to only some extent he does tend to get the best examples plus I seen quite a few of those cars on there for months..I think if an ultra rich person from the Middle East sees one he sells it...and to be fair the usual ones I see on PH etc are always on there....suppose that is also simple economics you hold a view long enough you bound to be right sometime I guess...

Edit: got distacted before posting and missed reading the 2 posts above[&o]

It doesn't look like GT classics German counterpart is suffering much. The 964 Cup, maritime 964 LTW, Midnight blue 993 RS and not forgetting the 993 Cup (mentioned here on the forum) among others have all moved relatively quickly on. Maybe (like me) people would rather have an alternative to a hand full of €€€€'s at the mo[&:]

Back on topic...

What is the exact story behind the Alzen turbo?

Hmmm, so why are there so many 964Rs's on PH that seem to have been around for a while as Ben points out. Odd

I have no idea why they arent selling on PH or Mobile.de for that matter. I also dont know how fast and for what price they are moving from other dealers but Tom seems to be selling.

Just had a look around my usual websites and it would appear as if there are quite a few 964RSs for sale at the moment. Probably more so now than at anytime over the past few years.

No I am not on the market for one and no I am not trying to talk prices down.

Track season ahead so they will get interest pretty soon I'd have thought unless now they are becoming collectors pieces
