Am I mad

I fairly sure the guy that owns it now is Ok ( as I said he owns the Merc Indy that my E class is serviced at). He have had it up on the ramp at his place and has decided before selling it that he will pass it over to a local porsche Indy to sort out the oil leak ( it appears to be cam cover gasket) and give the car a service including spark plugs and a check over.

He is happy for me if I want to pay for leakage test ( £50) whilist the indy has it and I'm sure he would be fine if I pay for the garage to give a full report.

I just need to find out now which indy he is using.

Anything else I should check???

Just been txt back the guy is going to use deutsch tech in milton keynes, does anybody know if they are any good???

My 1 pence.

£20k can buy you a pretty sorted 964. My only advice would be to look at other cars. Look at the higher priced cars and the lowest priced cars. (And I mean physically look at the cars!) Even if this only reassures you that this one is reasonable it will be worth the effort.

You can chuck thousands away trying to make a rubbish car good and never get the money back.

There are 964s out there. Don't go for this one just because it is convenient to do so.

Good luck.

Here are the results of the report, I dont know if these are good or bad results.

Cylinder 1 195 psi and 5% leak off
Cylinder 2 190 psi and 5% leak off
Cylinder 3 190 psi and 7% leak off
Cylinder 4 198 psi and 8% leak off
Cylinder 5 195 psi and 5% leak off
Cylinder 6 195 psi and 8% leak off

The following has been found on the car but please note all very minor

Front discs slightly corroded on inside
Gear selector rubber loose (now secured with cable tie)
