Am I Mad?!

Thanks all for your input which has been very interesting. Overall the suggestions are to keep the 993. If I were to keep it and the aircon is the main bugbear, this leaves 2 choices:
1. change it for another 993. (not so keen) or
2. Fit aircon.

I know I have mentioned this before but for the cost of fitting aircon and bearing in mind any 993 I buy, I might be forced to spend a subsantial amount on it to bring it up to scratch it seems I am better off having the aircon fitted.

I know my car and prefer to keep it and more importantly I know what I have spent on it. Any other 993 I pick up might be a bit of unknown albeit a thorough check would have to be done prior to purchase.

One thing I didn't understand from all the posts was does the 996 C4s suffer from the same engine problems as the standard 996?

Yep, buy a 996TT they dont suffer from the problems and can be had from £20k plus and completely user friendly to drive in and out of town.

Have you had a quote on fitting costs i.e. Evaporator is in the bulk head and alone will cost £1k plus, the pipes are expensive its got to be £5k plus job!

Hi Gordon - thanks. Yes the quote is £1900+VAT. This was supplied by http://www.readerair.co.uk/ as recommended by a PCGB member who had had it done on his 993 and was pleased with the result.
