UPDATE ON AMAZING ALLOYS

Oh dear, and I was so looking forward to having pretty wheels again!!

Greg from Amazing Alloys turned up this morning, only to tell me that, due to the ingrained brake dust and areas of corrosion, he would need to send the wheels away to be acid dipped and possibly shot blasted, which would double the cost up to the level that I have seen advertised generally, i.e. around £100 per corner.

As the car is my daily driver and I need it for work, I will need to think again.

Fair play to him as he said if he worked on them in the current state, they would look crap afterwards. Unfortunately, it cost me £20 to find this out as that was the call out charge to where I live, but he would not charge that again if I go ahead at a later date.

So if you want to use this service, it will only work if the wheels are very clean. In terms of repairing the damage, he said that this would not present a problem and that they would look like new after a full treatment.

Or you you come and meet Greg at the Open day on Sunday 3rd April.

This way you get advice for free. (Sorry Colin!)[;)]
