Thanks Dave - I was trying my best! Raises an interesting point for me though. I haven't been in another 944 on track so I can't compare my car's behaviour to any others. My car is very 'unstable' shall we say, which I love. Not unstable in a dangerous way, but in a predictable, balanced and exploitable way. I took a chap out for a passenger ride at Cadwell and after the first few corners down into the hairpin, he let out a loud "woah" - as if he thought the car was out of control - whereas actually it was just a typical corner approach! I'm sure it has something to do with my tyres (T1R's), but I'd be interested to know if this is typical 944 behaviour?

BTW Big Dave - there was a LHD CS at Cadwell with a home-built supercharger conversion! Looked very neat and tidy, but didn't really get chance to see how it went!

That doesn't sound anything like how my 944 handled - maybe I wasn't going fast enough? [:D]

I've been in a few 944's on track, including Peter E's lightweight and I think they have all been fairly similar.

Tell us more about the handling - is the back end loose? Does it move around a bit under braking or is it tail happy entering a corner? If it's like that in the dry it might be a handful in the wet...

My car was set up by the PO along with Autofarm. He sprinted the car & is a very experienced racer. Mine was very neutral - tending to understeer if you brake, lift & turn in like all 944's but with a bit of trail braking the back end moved just enough & it turned in very nicely. Even I could balance the car around the corners. It always felt very composed & had stacks of grip. I ran it on T1-R's and P Zero C's.

 
Hard to describe. I wouldn't say it is especially biased towards over or understeer. Certainly the back end goes light under heavy braking, the nose tucks in nicely on the brakes but will tend to push wide if not on the brakes, but it's very stable coming out of the corner, with really good drive. I'm used to driving big mercs around track which are completely different, very much slow in fast out, so perhaps it's just such a difference. Either way, I can't say I'm tempted to put really sticky stuff on and make the car really grippy. I'm not worried about going as fast as I, or the car, can - I just wanna have fun!
 
I agree, the cars can move around a lot, just the way they are, as long as it feels nicely planted mid corner and on exit your OK.

Sounds familiar. My 924 Turbo gets loose in the rear braking and entering a corner on track. I am also running T1R's. The hotter the tyres the more movement I 'm getting. As soon as the T1R's are worn out they will be replaced by R888's as it's not a daily driver.

It sounds to me very much like the rear rebound on the KW needs adjusting. [The top adjuster on the rear damper.].
If your finding the rear getting light under braking.
