..Another newbie saying Hello!

Yeah, second half of the tank is definately slower, especially I find the last quarter lasts ages before it goes onto the red, usually get around the 400 to 450mls out of a full tank.

First time i filled mine right to the top I got 455 miles from topped up to the warning light coming on. (68 Litres)

The needle got between the 3rd white line and the red line today. []

Will have to get that seen to asap. If it is the headgasket then I will cry (lots!)

It's very possible your fans aren't cutting in properly (if at all)

www.clarks-garage.com has some very good guides in the Garage Shop Manual section, specifically here:

Cheers for that. There is certainly at least 1 fan working as it was running when i turned off the ignition for about 2 minutes after a decent drive the other day. Will have a good look around that website tommorrow. thanks again

Gee whiz - I have never had much more than 300 from a full tank!

Hi Neil

Looks very nice - like the 968 mirrors and the porsche script running down the side. On the fuel economy side, maybe it just needs a good service? I hope its not Redline Racing in Knaresborough that you are taking it to....

Cheers for the comments. No its Redline Racing in Thornaby. They seem highly recommended on here!

About your MPG, give the car a good service and see how the oils affect the MPG. My Peugeot 306 GTi-6 would average between 30-34MPG in my hands (I did get 39MPG out it once and that wasn't going silly slow on the motorway), and a few fellow owners were shocked at how I could achieve this. Whilst it lacked history, the service schedule was always adhered to. When I went from Fuchs 5W40 Fully synthetic (apparently a good oil for the engine) to Peugeot's Total 10W40, I was getting almost another 100 miles to a tank!

Again, I just serviced a mate's Mondeo ST24. Filter and plugs seemed very original. Since those have been changed he's commented that his MPG around town has increased.

Either way, that's one tidy looking 944 :).

The previous owner (to me) worked for a motor factors and the kyb's came with the car. It also had lots of new bits at the time - distributor cap leads etc. as he got a good discount. It was resprayed then too.and gained the teardrops and rear underspoiler. When it was mine it had new shocks, standard front and KYB rears -KYB's came with the car. I rewired the teardrops as they didn't operate correctly before that. It had an aftermarket wheel - though the standard wheel was with the car -badge ;)
The clock worked - I resisted the temptation to swap for the one in my turbo that didn't. I changed the seals in the oil cooler from the early type to the later 'green' ones. I replaced a rotten bosal exhaust with a genuine standard one. I put a new flexy clutch hose on it.
Other than that it had routine servicing with Northway and I think Steve Bull. It used a bit of oil but not excessive. Trying to recall mileage I think around 141k when i sold it. (and a reasonable folder of history).
The brake and fuel lines were cleaned and coated with wax in the vicinity of the rear axle by me but will eventually need attention.
I sold it because I used to hate getting it dirty /wet and I didn't buy it to become a garage queen - that and the fact it felt like it could use another 100BHP to be exciting, so I bought a Turbo with almost another 100BHP and it felt like it could do with another 100BHP as thanks to the bigger tyres, bigger brakes, bigger ARB's and LSD it was more competant, that was a slippery slope to another 100BHP eventually ;)

Oh and as far as I know the registration is original, though the glass was etched with a different number,
Tony
