What would you guys like to see written about the 944 in Porsche post?

Technical articles? I suspect every technical issue and resolution is probably already covered in this forum somewhere.. Would you not all be really bored to read about how to change a distributor cap on a 944, when to most of the members, the answer might be found here.

Articles about driving one through the Stelvio pass? For that the club needs you guys to write an article and submit it.

I am not going to blow smoke up all of your collective exhaust pipes, and I may live to regret saying this, but.. 924, 944 and 968 owners are a little different to other Porsche model owners, different in a way that you are probably a lot less likely to write an article for the club magazine..

Some people enjoy the limelight and to get attention, these people are more bothered with public perception of their chosen Porsche and how that reflects on them, so this is also why they buy a car with what they perceive as to have higher status to the general populous. This kind of Porsche enthusiast, is more likely to write a magazine article.

924, 944 and 968 owners, as a whole, are quieter people, they like the fact that people do not know what their car is, they do love it when someone compliments their car, but as a whole, they tend to like stealth, they tend to be engineering types of people who appreciate good engineering, they are more than happy with their car and would probably feel like everyone was watching them if they found themselves in a lime green GT3... These people tend not to crave social approval and therefore are less likely to write a magazine article.

You know what I love about 944 Turbo's? When I am driving mine and switch to hyperspace modes of driving, those who have tried to race me have no idea what that *thing* was that just showed them a clean set of heals... That brings great satisfaction, any of the 911 turbo's I have owned would have performed in the same way, but people would have known what it was, and that is not as satisfying.. And I think that is a typical 944 Turbo owner thang, and that mentality is not one that is aligned with wanting their name on a magazine page or their story told.

The world would be boring if we were all the same, it takes all types to make the world go round, without magazine writers there would be no magazines.. but I think the lack of articles submitted to Porsche post about the 944 is down to the type of people who buy a 944, you are too happy *doing* to be bothered about writing about *doing*.

Brilliant Jon, this is what we need.... Start typing up your hyperspace experiences and I'm sure they'll b an interesting read & feature in he mag, far more interesting than changing a Dizzy cap!

That has been one of my great pleasures of 944 and 968 ownership over the past 20+ years. Admittedly it started with being greatly embarrased when a Civic Type R showed me (in a 944 lux) a clean pair of heels coming off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway long left bend, and he went past me with ease. Conversely, there have been many occasions where, after a long single carriageway section with someone trying to crawl up my exhaust, we get a section of dual carriageway, idiot goes to the outside lane while I floor it and run away from him. Even more fun on the twisties where I can accelerate into a corner where laddiebucks has to brake - 3 or 4 corners later he either nearly puts it into the hedge trying to catch me, or realises he's no match. In a 944 or 968 though, don't try it with a 928, you'll loose!!

I'd like to see a 928 beat me....I'd have time to brew a tea while waiting for him to catch up .....:)

edit:...ahh think I miss read...you mean the 928 would lose..same thing really.......:)

Pete..
could a GTS leave you on the motorway?,,,,
or the lightness and what your Turbo kicks out will leave it eating it dust?,,,,,,jasonp

Don't worry Chris I've rebalanced the Civic Type R's issue with my N/A 2.7 924S many times, and plenty of other super FWD hatches and powerful Turbo'd diesels etc...
As you say the element of others having "no idea what that *thing* was that just showed them a clean set of heals" is the fun hence why I went mad on modifying a 924 rather than a 44 or 68
because the 24 does not look as racey as the others (Because of it's skinny arches) and has the worst rep of the lot as it started life not just as the Poor mans Porsche but also with the same engine block as the VW LT Van!

I had a 4.7 S2 928 15 years ago whilst living in Milton Keynes which was a great handling car because it's roads are a grid system full of dual carriageways & roundabouts
so with the 310bp V8 and 2 pedals (Auto) it was very good against many sportscars even though it's a heavier beast than the 24/44 & 68 the balance is still there and the rear has "anti spin" rear wheel geometry trailing arms...... Off the line with all that Torque and the rear gearbox axle weight, and the easy bury the pedal and not have to negotiate a clutch scenario it tore away from many whoosh bang laggy turbo's
