Any idea what the markings on my springs mean?

Yours is a C2, isn't it? Not sure what springs you have there.
The paint dot colours are listed in the PET. You can download a copy from here: http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/originalparts/originalpartscatalogue/

part 996 343 531 01 504 = blue / yellow
part 996 343 531 15 504 = brown / white
Identification on MO30 should be green and white. for coupe, green and red for cabriolet.
The other is x74 as you mentioned.
I'm assuming then that the orange is a faded brown, so I have 996.343.531.15.504?
It's confusing though, as I don't know which two dots it means, I've found this:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Porsche-996-Carrera-2-Komplettfahrwerk-neuw-/270714907606
Shock cases / struts have orange / brown on them same as mine I assume, bottom of springs are same colour, but the blue dot at the top is green on mine......
Confused! Was going to get the MO30 kit, but before that I decided I would make sure I don't have any of it already fitted.
Cheers,
Looking at photos of your car, it seems like it could well be M030 to me. Have you put your VIN in PET7 and checked it that way? If you can't do that, email it to me and I'll try doing it for you. (Or have we done that gag before?)

Nunchucks are also great leverage for undoing tight stuff.
Great weapon cos most people hurt themselves more than they would anyone else always makes me laugh.
After entering the VIN, and clicking OK at the Car Identification screen, it would normally highlight the parts that are particular to your car in yellow on the parts lists, depending on the option codes. If the Car ID doesn't show 029, 030 or X74 it probably won't work though.ORIGINAL: steveoz32
K Rich, thanks for the offer, it worked, I can't see an MO30 though.....
Under the bonnet it has 740 on the sticker too - exhibition car
Looking at those pictures of yours, I'm not sure now. Here's a pic of my old C2 with M030:

Thirteeneast, lol I forgot about them being there, they are pretty funny, I did a nunchuku seminar the other month with our dojo, was really good fun and learnt some new bits but there were bruises involved, especially passing them around the neck! The chain ones are aweful for that, and skin pinching so I normally use roped ones
Richard, I'm not sure either, looking at yours I thought it looked lower, then going back to mine I wasn't so sure.
Why is nothing every simple?
Is there a way to measure clearence perhaps? putting a flat strip of metal on top of the tyre, in the centre all the way to the back of the arch and pressing on the middle of the tyre reveals I have 44mm of clearence at the back from the tyre, both front and rear tyres are pretty much new (only 2k on them) and 43 at the front.
Lowering 30mm on mo30 from there will be a bit too close for comfort I would have thought.
P.S, did you have spacers on that? The turbo look wheels seem further out than mine which may affect the look.
I can't measure a C2 unforunately, but maybe someone else can. A floor to top of arch dimension should work, as long as they are the same size wheels/tyres, and be less prone to differences in measurement techniques. Another way might be to compare anti-roll bar diameters.
No, mine didn't have spacers.

I thought the m030 kit only dropped the car by 15 mil? When i photo mine ill put a rule next to it and measure the clearance.
Front 44 mil.

I've got pretty new tyres on though. I just re-measured, came up with aprox 47mm rear and 45mm front.
It would seem that mine is about the ride height of MO30, now whether that is through wear or that the springs were changed at some point I don't know.
Given that I've already got the ride height of an MO30, I think I will opt for 25mm H&R springs, as I already replaced the rear ARB and bushes (although I admit, I threw the old one and didn't measure it as I didn't have any need at the time DOH!).
Really appreciate the pics and you taking the time out to help []
P.S. I meant combining 30mm springs with the mo30 kit Thinking I may have the MO30 I think I will order the 25mm H&R tomorrow.
