Really miss SD/USB play capability, so am looking for a competent supplier & fitter for new head unit. Current system is the Bose one.
Cheers.

I have the same and have a bluetooth dongle plugged in to the armrest compartment usb and play through my iPhone . Means I can get DAB stations as well.

Unfortunately the original owner did not specify Option 870, armrest Universal Audio Interface (USB/Aux/iPod), which is the root of the problem.

I have a Pioneer unit fitted in our 986 S. It's functional and easy to use. I'm not a massive fan of the way it looks or the graphics - the latter is not an issue as I always have my phone plugged in doing Android Auto so it's the google graphics I get then anyway. It was already fitted when I go the car but I think it would cost somewhere in the region of £280 for one.

I'd suggest the "best" unit would be the Porsche Classic Communication Module that you can get for 987's (Although I am not sure there's currently one for Gen 2 cars now I'm looking...)

As for installing, any competent automotive electrician should be able to do it with no problem.

I have just ordered a wireless Apple Carplay / Android Auto kit from audioabc.shop for around £155 including 18% new customer discount. It is effectively a printed circuit board which you install inside your PCM 3.0 / 3.1 / 4.0 so it retains your original head unit for a true OEM look.

Jim Waddel from R2 has installed one in his 997.2 by himself and it works fine. I fully intend to do the installation myself.

This is a Chinese product and will not be up to the standard of the official Porsche Classic Communication Module (PCCM) but at around 10% of the price I think its worth a punt. The main thing I want from it is Google Maps and Spotify.
