Anybody have one of these fitted

John's comments about aerodynamics are very valid, they are not to be underestimated. As a cyclist, I quickly learned that leaning down over the handlebars and getting my head as low as possible made long-distance fast riding much easier. (Which is one of the reasons why I simply cannot understand the current obsession with riding mountain bikes on the road - the aerodynamics are simply terrible). Also, the effect of aerodynamic drag goes up with (I think) the 3rd power of the speed, so if you double the speed, you increase the drag by a factor of 8.

I understand that at 60mph, a Maclaren F1 generated as much downforce as it's weight, so could indeed be driven along the roof of a tunnel (although it would be a brave man to try that!)

[:D] True. But to visualise this the KitKat I have in front of me is 40g and I can't pick it up with a drinking straw. And I'm much bigger than a baby.
Well suck harder, man! (Or do as the nice Mr Empson suggests and stop playing with your food!)

The KitKat referred to by my learned friend has, erm, disappeared and hence can no longer be used for aerodynamic experimentation. Sorry...

Well that's royally bu99ered that up then hasn't it!

Mods, over here, you might as well close the thread now. Ian's eaten the relevant bit ...

If it isn't that figure it is a figure very similar.

There is a direct calculation between drag, power and top speed. If you know the drag figure of your car, and power (at the wheels), you can work out your top speed (relative to wind speed). In my Westfield racing days I was stunned how much additional power I needed to raise its top speed from 120 to 125. To then gain another 5 mph the additional power was almost double the total power (from what I can remember).

Some options:
I bought one of those hoop/bridge (what's the diff?) spoilers I think from that same UK ebay site and had it sprayed and it's not too bad but it hasn't been on the car yet so I guess that might change things. []

Lastly something a bit more racy:
NB.Would it not be possible to figure out a way of uploading more than one pic at a time?

You can get that spoiler from GT racing, the relveant page of their catalogue is here and Simon at Essential Styling can import them for a good price if you're tempted.

Cant get the link to work for some reason, is it in fibre glass from GTR ? the one in the picture looks like its made from rubber like the one on the rear of my car or are they all made from FG ?

Im loving this...[:D] where can i buy one ?[:D]

333pg333 Where did you get this photo from ? i would like to track down where i could buy one of these rear spoilers from in rubber rather than fibre glass.

Thanks Steve.

I would love one of the adjustable Turbo S bridge spoilers BUT at £435 (and I assume that that is unpainted) and guessing that my car's worth about £6.5k, that makes the spoiler worth 7% of the total value of the car OR about the same as a good set of tyres OR two track days...

yeah that well pricy for a back spoiler. 333pg333 is quality and fit looking like its going to be pretty good on that one you have from same website as thinking might order one.VZ 968rs adj with c/f centre is pretty cool, where can you get them from, cheers
