Anyone got an Iphone ?

thanks but they are all over ebay for a lot less than that. I'll probably get an 8Gb on contract they are only £150 and 8Gb is plenty big enough for me.

I would also recommend a windows mobile PDA/Phone as an alternative to the iPhone.
I use one and find it very versatile plus I have Tom Tom on mine so it's also a pocket sat nav too.
I would consider something like this if I was buying again today:

WiFi, GPS, email, Microsoft Office etc etc

I bought a couple of the top of the range 02 XDA Mini S a few years ago. never used them. They sat in the drawer for over a year. I found them too fiddly for any serious use and the cell fone ,texting and G3 multimedia messaging next to useless. Same with blackberry units really. Poor screen definition and minute fiddly keyboards in a touch screen generation seems backward stepto me

Today O2 have announced a price drop on the 8GB iPhone. They're cutting a hundred pounds from the price, so your 8GB iPhone is now £169 + contract. The 16GB stays at full price.

This discount is only valid until 1st June "¦ which some might say validates the rumours of a new model being introduced in June.

There is a new 3G iPhone that will be launched very soon, here is some evidence of that:

Totally agree with the XDA but the BlackBerry Pearl is fantastic. I assume you've looked at or are remembering earlier models. The screen on the Pearl is great and it works effortlessly as a mobile phone which is what it is used for most of the time. Small too.

id seen somewhere that once you had paid your contract (18months) and your fee for the phone it came to a little over £900. id not buy one but at £350 with 16gb and unlocked to all networks that dosent seem too bad :)

it doesn't seem too bad until you realise that
a) you can never update it
b)or link it to your PC
c)or use any of the new software with it.
d) your warantee is void.
Once unlocked you have broken a legal agreement with Apple and 02 if anything goes wrong with it in the first few weeks you are left with a £350.00 brick! how clever is that?

I think it has the same design flaws as the PDA/XDA range really for me anyway. Its just too small and fiddly for serious use. I'd far rather use an ultrasmall palmtop like the lifebook 7010 with a built in touch screen and a 3g card .
I think the blackberry range is ok for folk that text a lot but I prefer to telephone people.
What are the screens like now? are they backlit ?can you use them in bright sunlight ?

The screens are good now. It depends what you mean 'for serious use'. Sure, I wouldn't surf the web on it (although you can) but my needs mean a phone, ability to text, and email (mostly received). I have to look after several systems that can send an email if they get into difficulty - that pops up instantly on the BlackBerry without having to muck about setting up SMS. Not going to be as feature rich as a mini-laptop but given that this is the size of a mars bar that's been run over it does the job fine. If you prefer to telephone people I don't see a problem - it works perfectly and intuitively as a phone too.

Ive a Nokia 6310i since 2001.. I am running it until it dies ... I think I am behind [&:][&:][&:]

A good friend who is a techno head has an Apple iPhone and I had a play with it. Very surprised how much you can do with it.... I am getting one when the 6310i gives up [:'(][:'(]
