Anyone know this one?

I admit that could cover a range of values (how full a system is the exhaust system, what sort of nick are the wheels in, what make are they, ditto the make, calendar age and condition of the tyres) but if all that lot is spanking lovely it could have a market value equal to the car itself.

I'm in no hurry to buy one as much as I'd like one now, just want to by the right one.
Andrew - thanks for the link, I'd seen that and thought it was lovely. I had started out on a search for an S2 but I'm definitely going square dash now. I think it's because that's what I grew up admiring when I was a kid!
edh - cheers mate, have seen that one too. It is on the radar but it's a long travel for me so it's sat in the wings for now!
Thanks all again for all your help and advice, it's all very welcome!

First off, defo no Auto Pixie, have one for my company car so want something to 'drive') I had a long chat with the chap Pixie this morning, he seems genuine enthusiast. Bought the 944 in '08 for historic racing but turned out it's slightly too new for the class he wanted to enter! Hence he's now prepped an older 924 and why he wants the 944 out the garage. He says he's only done sprints, not track days so only 6-7 miles a weekend. Is that bad for a car which is going to be driven quick in its' life anyway? Overall it sounds ok, does need some attention here and there but I do agree, the price is high even with the parts.
It's up to you
Theres a difference between "driving quickly" and actively competitively racing a car. I've track dayed and sprinted a car but didn't advertise the fact to the next owner, it was also a road car and totally standard. It's still on the road and even up for sale at the moment!
Personally, I'd have no hesitation in buying an ex-tracked car, but would approach it as I would any other car; what condition is it in, how has it been looked after, do I like the owner?
Porsche built their cars to be driven hard. Why therefore should driving them hard make them less appealing to buy, if they are looked after suitably?

Its paid off as there's been no major trouble, the head is off at the moment and the bores etc are in fine fettle though I am getting new valve seats and stems.
I changed the suspension but that was through choice rather than necessity and the various things that have worn out at various times are no more than my previous 944 and in fact somewhat less. Touch wood she has turned out to be a cracking example of the breed (even if she isn't an S2 !)

What it really comes down to is - has it really been maintained properly? I think we'll all agree on that![]()
