Anyone like the sport chrono dash clock?

I have to say that it is a feature that I am surprised that Porsche have pushed in this way: consider the investment (inc. time) they put into designing every part of the car, e.g. at a recent Porsche launch I attended it was highlighted that they had avoided introducing an engine start button as well as the key ignition as this was one of many things that added unnecessarily to the weight of the vehicle.
For all the marketing that Porsche make about the exclusive options as well as the general customisation available I am stumped that this part has to be locked in. I can, for example, de-opt the rear wiper on a Turbo, have personalised sill plates, colour code the headlight washer nozzle to name but a few. It's not as if I am asking for a personalised gearbox configuration.
I don't doubt there will be a retrofit cover for those wishing to remove the clock available at some stage, even if not from Porsche...

will i like it & i insisted on it being in my 997 before purchase.

and this is why:

i like the white pattern background, a lot nicer than the ordinary white dials on the other instruments.

i think it looks good, but i accept that its a matter of opinion.

i think the interior of the 996 is crap & the stop-watch highlights that its not a 996 interior.

it does light up when the exterior lights are on & the stopwatch is either timing or finished timing. it remains lit up after stopping the stop watch & until its reset. as long as its not reset, then it will always be back lit when the lights are on.

i don't race my car on the track & so cant comment on its actual usefulness in timing but im pleased Ive got it & hopefully when i upgrade, any replacement 997 will also have it sitting on the dashboard, hopefull annoying many a fellow Porsche driver"¦:)

Yep , I will add my vote to the clock supporters [:D]
More than pleased with the 997C2S , the clock is an idiosyncratic part of the package that makes it different.

I quite like the look of the chrono althogh have never used the facilty - but the sports button is well worth it and I understand if you want to retrofit the sports exhaust it is a cheaper option. I would definitely spec the sports chrono again.
