April 21st Reading OPC meeting

Anybody going to the Reading OPC meeting this Saturday??

From what I remember there should be an Oil Presentation plus other things - cannot remember what.
(must be my age, before you say it)[:D]

Will confirm tomorrow and post details tomorrow evening

We STILL need your suggestions as to what presentations and/or demonstrations you would like to see at these meetings or anything else within reason.

OPC cannot do it all without you - do you want the meetings to continue?? It costs Porsche a lot of time and effort and therefore money to put these meetings on so they need your input.

Hi Paul, what time do I/(we ;o) have to get to Reading OPC?

Anyone else going?

Regards

Bob

Well I went to the first one a few months back. Very enjoyable tour [:D]

From a 997 owners perspective"¦

Not sure if there is anything new that would get me to go back again though (even though I live 5 mins away). Perhaps some demos drives in a new Turbo or a GT3?! Although saying that, their new Turbo is a Tiptronic so would pass on that one, and I think they only have a press GT3, not a demo one"¦ <sighs>

Perhaps some insider knowledge on 997 facelift introduction dates, new technologies such as PDK/Direct Injection, and or Porsche's strategy on how it's going to bring it's emissions down and or evolve in performance given the same engine sizes (weight cutting etc). Although I tend to discover that WE typically know that kind of information way before Porsche staff do!

Hmmmm"¦. [8|]

please all do turn out to this ! its a very informative meet and if we dont show interest we could lose the slot ! i would love to attend however im unable to make saturdays . i have been lucky to see all the workshops ,bays of cars and offices at reading ,london chiswick and mayfair and they are all worth a behind the scenes look !

Thinking of dropping in. Are they offering to give our cars a once over on the hoist? I see a few oil spots under the GT3 and would like a better look.

My Check Engine light's come on. I intend to take the car to Reading so maybe they could hook up the laptop and we'll take it from there?. Car's a Mk II GT3.

I will try and make it too.....some technical advice / assistance on cars would be helpful, would drum up custom for them also....

Ooops - talking of remembering...... I forgot to add:-

Porsche Reading have confirmed that there will be a presentation by Exon Mobile also the diagnostic bay will be available for inspections - on a first come first served bases.
Personnel should also be available to answer most of your queries / questions regarding your cars.
A tour of the workshop can be arranged if required - see me on Saturday.
Tea / coffee and biscuits will be available as usual.
We are still awaiting your ideas / suggestions for future meetings

I intend to be there, with car this time as now have MOT and tax[:)]

I've missed the workshop tour in the past - would be very interesting.
Also demo/test drives if realistic.

Cheers,

Ian

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this Saturday.

I think it's difficult to make suggestions about ideas for future meetings. Like many others, I'm sure, I'd like to see some DIY stuff (like Mark's belt change), but clearly this would be a conflict of interests for them. Perhaps they could help with preventative maintenance tips and checks gained from their experience of servicing and repairs. I'm thinking about things like vacuuming out the aircon rads on later cars, etc.

I hate to say it, but I did find the tyre presentation last month was a bit lacking in technical info.

I'll be there but not for too long. Have to go by 11:30, got the landscapers ( stepson) in all weekend.

I'd definitely like the Reading meets to continue. I've only been to one so far and I don't think there was any particular presentation at that one but the chat was good as always and I got my car up on the ramp. In fact it was interesting to see all the cars that went on the ramp. IMHO the Reading meet is more enjoyable than the Ascot one because the chat is just as good and you're not paying 3 quid plus for a pint! However Sat morning is not always going to be free. Typically I'm free this morning but the car is back at GT-One yet again. It's been a very expensive start to the year!

I think what I'm trying to say is that although it's a great meet, it's difficult to suggest topics because in reality my attendance will always be sporadic. Also (and I'd love to be contradicted on this) as an owner of an older car I'm not sure whether an OPC would wish to do a presentation that's especially relevant. eg "968 vario cam for dummies".

Cheers

James
