Are all Porsche Caymen owners as irritating as the one I know....

if your going to tell it, tell it like it was lol Don't lie, quote my quote's :p not lies. and quote what you said not skirt around the issue. ""Personally I think the 964 is the ugliest 911 variant and actually not very good." the UGLIEST 911 variant lol you need some new glasses lol. Get out from under that bridge you Troll [:D]

Your'e right about that evora Neil, just doesn't look right at all [:'(] like something out of an 80's sci fi film.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having the engine in the front - I've had 3, the last for the past 10 1/2 years, and love her! I remember my (then) local OPC commenting, we'd had a couple of weeks of hot weather (it was a year or three back) followed by showers on the Monday morning. The OPC had suddenly become very busy rescuing rear engined cars from various trees, crash barriers and hedges! I prefer any pirouetting (very limited these days!) to be on the dance floor, not a local roundabout! It's also good to have a car you can use for the supermarket trip rather than struggling to find room for a toothbrush and clean underwear if you want to go away for a night!

The luggage capacity has just highlighted the irony to me given I think I am not alone in believing the Cayman is a very natural successor to the 924/944/968 series. A practical car with balance... and a hatchback

Alas in the upper eschelons of Porsche ownership the 924/944 is often misunderstood. I suspect it's got a lot to do with some badge snobbery and the inverse to that from being able to buy a £1k Porsche. It's for this reason that I always flash and wave at every Boxster/Cayman/997 driver so that they don't forget their heritage. [;)] Forums though - surely it's far easier to ignore some misplaced ranting and raving when in the comfort of your own home and not get dragged into some debate about what is "better" or "worse"? If a Cayman driver thinks a 944 is pointless in respect of the 964 then so what? As long as you like it then that's cool.

It seems the 944 section of this forum has the most posts by a long shot, 7900 or so, the next biggest being the Boxster at 3600. Says alot about these cars and just how popular they are. Edd

Being a 944 owner and a Lotus owner I find myself on a number of forums. Anyway, I know a cayman owner who got involved on a lotus site about other lotus owners appreciating and liking the 944 and wanting to buy one. In typical fashion a complete nonce who thinks porsches are only porsches if the engine is in the - rear except his is in the middle) starts to say that a 944 is a pointless waste of money when a 964 can be had for a few K more.

I said to him (being a proud owner of a 944 S2) that I didn't think much of the 964 and personally think it is the least interesting of the 911 variants (we're all allowed personal opinion after all aren't we?). He seems to think that I have said a great taboo and would not post my opinion on a porsche site.

So there you go...I don't like the 964...shoot me.

For the record I also told a load of lotus owners I think the evora looks rubbish too.

I like my porsches front engined...looking forward to more of them in the future!

you wont be able to eat those "man-crisps" now; prepare to be sucked up a transparent tube

If any car is pointless it has to be the cayman, well not so much pointless as a good old rip. Only at Porsche would you pay more for a coupe than the equivalent soft top. Yes the 924/44 was pointless; so pointless in fact that it saved Porsche from bankruptcy. That's how good them engine-in-the-back thingys are. Couldn't sell enough of them to stay afloat.

Just to add oil to the flames , I really dont like Porsche's, always been a Lotus/Aston/TVR fan, but I love the 944, its looks, its handling etc. It could have a Daewoo badge on it for all I care. The badge means absolutely nothing. Better burn the heretic now [;)]

Didn't the Boxster do the same? [&:]

Nice one i might start doing that, i find if you look at owners of the new breed like Caymans and Boxsters they're just overpaid business types and toffee nosed supermums who think they're buying into some sort of exclusive 'i know my motors mate' club.

For pity's sake can we not just bury this attitude for once and for all? It helps no-one. We all drive great cars - thats why we are here. There are some horrible owners of all of them - and I've met far too many for my liking, but don't tar all with the same brush - most on here are the nicest people you could meet.

Seconded. There are idiots in all cars, and some of my best friends drive Boxsters and Caymans. (Should that be Caymen? [8|])
