Are all Porsche Caymen owners as irritating as the one I know....

Can your mate point out a few 964's worth having for a few thousand more than your S2 was bought for please.

I think the Cayman is a great Porsche and shows a true link to days gone by. I believe that they are a great car to drive and if Porsche let the tech boys off the leash, it could easily surpass the 911 variants. Having said that we have a couple in our club and they don't do as quick times as us in our miserable old world front engined cars so until they can bury us in their dust I'm not worried about the rantings of a few misguided clowns. Make no mistake, we are looked down upon from the majority of Porsche owners and they truly believe that we are not driving 'real' Porsches. The abject irony is that in fact the Porsche rear engined design was 'borrowed' from the Tatra, who in turn might have plagarised another designer, whereas the 944 was a complete Porsche designed car. Let 'em laugh, know you're right! [:D]

Mark I agree with you wholeheartedly. Whilst I cannot condone censorship, some of these posts do not appear to reflect well on the posters or Porsche cars and perhaps should cease. Let's leave this topic and move on [in our excellent cars] to more important issues.

Going back to the one of the origins of the post, the Cayman is a great step along the Porsche ownership road from the 944/968. My son has owned a couple of 944's and was looking for a 968 - not interested in the Boxster for reasons of transporting bags of golf clubs around - when I spotted a trader offering a Cayman for c.£20k. So, £7k more than a decent 968 but only 2 years old and 18k on the clock. And golf clubs fit. So cost of ownership over the next few years will hopefully pay off against the maintenance of an older car (the 944s are great but great money pits). What a super car the Cayman is too, brilliant handling and a 'togetherness' about the controls that just feels right. My Gen 2 911 has become just feels a little less connected than the previous model and is just a product of the process of more and more computerised interventions I guess. As far as the 964 is concerned, great in it's day when I had one, but I know where I'd spend my money today!

Gents Its just human nature - tosspots are everywhere. I noticed that Cayenne drivers even flash and wave to me. I have never had any other Porsche owner look down his nose at me no matter what sort of car he drove. Fare enough you get the odd numpty who thinks hes above everybody, what he is forgetting is that he has to sit down to s**te the same as everyone else. As with all clubs you get troublemakers and s**tstirrers. My advice is just let them off, They will eventually realise that by getting on everybodys nerves they are isolating themselves. Sooner or later they will get the message that nobody likes them or wishes to be associated with them. They then have 2 options: 1. Catch themselves on and wise up 2. Leave I get great entertainment watching jumped up people go about their business, looking down their noses at folk only to come a cropper later on in life...A bit of manners costs nothing but is outside of these peoples price range....!

Alas in the upper eschelons of Porsche ownership the 924/944 is often misunderstood.
It is................especially by some 930, C2 and C4 owners I`ve had the pleasure of meeting on WOTY`s who cant keep up and some S`s that can only keep up but cant get past (and a few other newer Turbos whose owners have found to their surprise [later admiration admitted] that they have to really gun it to get away) [;)]
