Are Spyders Becoming Extinct At OPCs!

My Number 1 PTS choice has popped up and not at an OPC and has been enjoyed for a record breaking 1562 miles

I had a text this morning from the OPC that sold me my 9 month old Spyder 18 months ago.
"Your Porsche 718 SPYDER is in demand. If you're considering selling your vehicle contact XXXX, our expert buyer for your no-obligation valuation."
The link to their www has a closing sentence: "Get your used Porsche market value for a successful Porsche trade in."
I've just checked their stock and they haven't any 718 Spyders nor any SRS.
The recent sun appears to have added at least £5k to prices!
Regards
Bill

Bringing the conversation back to "normal" spyders I am (yet again) considering the jump to a Spyder. I might have a slot for a new 718 BGTS 4.0 but 85k+ seems like a lot of money for a Boxster.

There's a lovely manual 987 Spyder with buckets for sale (about 40k less than the new 718 GTS). 16k miles. How are people getting along with these now 14 year old Spyders? Still the "ultimate" one?

I am also considering 981 spyder for sale on autotrader, but the 981 just seems very low (especially with that front lip). Am I right in thinking the 987 is more manageable? I am also not keen on the standard 981 electric steering (never tried a GT4 or a Spyder), hence 987 sounds fun. The 987 is probably cheaper to maintain in the long run too, I would imagine.

Plus, the thought of still picking one of these up for 45k or thereabouts sounds brilliant (who knows how long this will be possible).

Any thoughts?

987 for a fun 2nd car , 718 Spyder you can use all the time and has that 4.0 engine which I think is great , 981 not really my bag. (had all 3)

if you are buying a 987 make sure EVERY thing was done at the 12 year big service, it's one big bill on these cars.

4.0 GTS Boxster maybe the best all rounder atm if you only want one car . The "85k+ seems like a lot of money for a Boxster." makes no odds it's still class leading.

Thanks, would be a weekend car. 718 Spyder seems like a wonderful car but the ground clearance (or lack thereof) makes me anxious.

For the 12 year service I would check the following have been done:
- engine oil + filter (oil and air)
- spark plugs
- drive belt
- brake fluid

Aside from that I would look at tyre and brake condition and age. I would assume that the suspension components would be alright at 16k miles unless the car has lived outside all its life - a PPI would come in handy here.

Am I missing anything?

Porsche say do the coolant at 12 years, even though it's a life product. I did mine.
Also the gearbox oil needs doing.

every thing which needs doing all comes up on the 12 years. so pollen cabin filters, and air filters to add to the lists.

718 is very usable as you can raise the hight 10mm it's fully adjustable.

Summer madness 2024 rolls on and this SRS is getting closer to OTR List Price circa £146k - yours today for £159,995 - was once up @ £214,995.00:unsure:

In the September edition of 911&Porshe World, Karl Meyer mentions in his monthly column that he is aware of a (small) number of unallocated 718 GT4 RS and Spyder RS....
