Would I trade my Spyder for a GT3 RS or GT4 purely for "driving pleasure" I only ever go topless

So who is right and who is wrong [8D]

He who is happy with his choice I would say [;)]

7 Days from now I am in the Spyder @ PEC and without any help from journalists I will make my own mind up how Good Bad or Fugly the Spyder Gen 2 is compared to my current Spyder

Thank goodness we all want something different to rotate our wheels otherwise what a boring world we would all be driving in :ROFLMAO:

You can easy say 987.2 Spyder for the R as they are the same car but one roof off.

I guess the key words are "Purely for driving" but many people want more or are looking for something else than that.

bit like me when I swap my Gt4 for a flappy paddle turbo thing. The key point though is , in my Garage a 987.2 Spyder sits :)

I think a lot of people are trading R's for GT4's even though imo you can mod a R to be a "purer drivers car" people like oem no modified cars.

I would NOT swap my 987.2 Spyder for a GT4 though.

You would if you wanted a coupe and not a cab. and didn't have an R

why not buy an R I here you say! Because never thought it as a "special car" unlike 987 spyder!

Imo Gt4 is a "special car" but sorry guys but not so much the 981 spyder!

Also hope that I get to use gt4 more than my spyder although a very special car its flawed as a second car for me!

The man say the best yet - its absolutely awesome:p

Have to agree with you flat6, in Black it looks quite menacing[:-]

Probably due to the all the other black bits (ie spoiler, grill front and rear bottom of mirrors and side air intakes matching the body colour[8|]

Would anyone go for Black after seeing the one above?

So tomorrow afternoon I've got my PEC drive in the Spyder [:)]

Unfortunately after looking at the weather forecast I don't see that roof coming off... []

At the moment my Thursday afternoon session looks very wet indeed [] so won't be going in Spyder 1 to do a back to back comparison

Look forward to reading your views Good Bad or Fugly

I'm looking forward to seeing some personal opinions on the new Spyder, along with compare & contrasts with the "old" one.

Hope to oblige after my session on Thursday[;)]

Good evening gentlemen...

Well I have finally made it back to West Country after a very wet day at the PEC.

So the new spyder......

Firstly, I must say that I'm not able to give a comparison between new and old Spyder as unfortunately I haven't yet had the pleasure of driving the original Spyder.

I'm coming from my regular 987 BS.

My first impression was just how well this car seems to be bolted together.

everything feels rock solid. The gearshift is swift and has a rifle bolt click clunk to it.

The clutch feel was fine (not too heavy as some reports have said)

The engine has plenty of torque and really gets going from 4k. It felt very similar to me to the 991's I've driven recently. I probably only took it up to 5.5k or so due to the weather, but can imagine this car would be a flier on a decent track.

I can see how its achieved the numbers on the Nurburgring.

I was really impressed with the comfort of the ride out on the roads. Firm but not unsettled at all.

The exhaust noise is very entertaining, but I did find with the PSE turned on, its a bit boomy with the roof up (but there again I won't be having the roof up [:)])

One thing I can confirm is that with the roof up, the boot can't be opened until the roof latch has been released. Not great, but again how often will the roof be up ??

After reading Andrew K's review again, I must say he did a great job summing up the experience.

For me the 981 Spyder is a great car, the most powerful and aggressive looking Boxster to date. But at the same time I can see why some will prefer a 987 Spyder.

I guess the only way forward is to have one of each...... [:D][:D]

Looking forward to to hearing your views now Daro, hope the rain stops for you !

Robert

Only one more sleep to go [:D] No doubt our founding Spyderman will be soon giving us a report on his experience of the new Spyder at the PEC
