Authenticity Certificate

Hi Andy, interesting reading.

So what car do you actually have?

A coupe with Sports Equipment option i.e. front and rear spoilers and uprated shock absorbers or a Super Sports Equipment coupe with full wide bodied turbo look?

Richard,

It is the Turbo body and my Certificate of Authenticity states that it is a 1986/911 Carrera Coupe (With Sport Equipment). In the body of the Certificate it say "Sport Equipment - Turbo Body(Front/Rear Spoilers and Running Gear).

This is in line with the 1986 Model Range Price List I have which is dated February 1986. In this there are the following versions of the 911 Coupe available - Carrera Coupe or Targa (£27,496.79) Carrera Cabriolet (£29,253.41) Carrera Coupe or Targa with Sport Equipment (£36,676.09) and the Carrera Cabriolet with Sport Equipment (£38,432.71). The price list states that The Sport Equipment option comprises Turbo body and running gear.

In the interest of completeness the Price List includes the 911 Turbo at £42,444.29 and the 911 Turbo with Sport Equipment at a whopping £79,904.01. (Slantnose)

All prices include car tax and VAT.

Andy

Wow! Shocked at those prices.

This months Classic Car mag features a 1988 3.2 Carrera and quote the new list price as £23366.

I had read somewhere that Supersports were approx 25% dearer so that is about right.

They also feature a Capri where the owner paid £5573 new in 1985 so the 911's were very expensive at the time.
