Average age of 944 owners

Don't forget that duffer Sims put his age in the wrong bracket back in post 2 of this thread [8|]

......and I still can't edit it properly until Jeff fixes the bug

It occured to me this is the average age of the 'online' 944 community, the average age may trend upwards when you include those who haven't ventured on here.

Snot going to make a lot of difference to the general trend now, but it would be nice to be included in the appropriate group.

I'm not in the least vain about my age, I think that is more of a girlie thing any way, but I do forget how old I am and have to work it out. It must be an age thing.

Tony is right that, without a multiplier of the percentage ages of forum users, the poll will give an off set indication.

What age is the oldest starter then ?
I got my 1st Porsche - (944 2.7) last Nov at 60 then the bug bit got a 2nd in April (S2 Cab 37k) - sold the 2.7 in July after Walton Hall (Tipec). Just have the Cab now at 61 (recently went round Oulton on a Novice track day with Bucketfulls of 968's - fantastic day out - lst time I was there was at age 19 as a sidecar passenger!) so its never to late to enjoy.

It transpires that I'm slightly older than Nick Fearn. If that isn't an advert to give up smoking, I don't know what is. [:D]

Taking aside the offset for the age of forum users the spread is interesting. If we were to assume that the majority forum users are more likely to be at the younger end of the spectrum it would perhaps indicate that 944 ownership is fairly evenly spread from 30 up wards.

In reply to Clive, I'll give it 66, rising 67 next May!
Had the 2.7 for 18 months and loving it!
Over a rather eventful life, (most of it to do with cars), I've had the chance to drive all sorts of 'machinery', and I have to agree with John Sims, the handling of the 2.7 leaves very little to be desired. IMO, for a production car, the balance is as near perfect as one could wish, and the chassis handles the BHP with ease.
Sure, you Turbo boys require more, but then Porsche provided it, with uprated brakes, suspension etc. But in my opinion the 2.7 lux in standard dress is excellent.
But of course there is always an 'IF'.
The one improvement any would-be purchaser might consider is four- pot callipers. It's the one department I would rate less than 10/10.
And I don't know of any other sports car that has got so much room for me, Matron and the 'zimmer'!
Whoops, here she comes again with that little blue tablet..................[:D][:D]

Yes Bruce, Must agree about the handling of the 2.7 I do miss that with the S2 Cab; but I like the wind in my hair (still got plenty of the grey stuff left) with the roof down & the extra Torque/power of the S2 together with the better braking, recon I will get a 968 though before the zimmer frame is required.
