Average Age ??

Got my first one, a brand new Boxster S in 2003 when I was 42, 5 years down the line and I'm on my 4th, they're contagious

Got mine 4 years ago when I was 32, 996 c4 1999, best car ever, never get bored with-it and that goes for both looks and driving!

I'm 30 and collecting my first Porsche next week. Could have had one sooner but somehow managed to hold off and save a bit extra for the turbo. Can't wait!

" 4 new tyres have just cost the best part of ÂŁ600 and I got a good deal. "

thats an INCREDIBLE deal!!i just paid twice that for 4 michelin pilot sports!!

I got 4 Michelin Pilot Sports (18") for just over ÂŁ700 by playing Kwikfit off against National Tyres.... They started at ÂŁ1100!

As far as the age goes... I'm 52 on the outside... got my first Porsche (914) when I was 24.

Happy New Year everyone.

Saved up for eight years and got my (current) 996 at 35 years. I'm now 11 months away from 40. (That sounds so much better than, well, you know the figure that I mean[&:])

Bought mine brand new as a 40th birthday prezzie, 8 years ago. Never regretted it, and never smile so much as when I'm driving it, or looking at it or cleaning it...small pleasure. Never thought Id sell it but the latest 997 gen 2 is tugging at my heart...just need a job to pay for it !

Bought mine when i was 39 as i had always promised myself one before i was 40. Now 42 and the car is 5 1/2 years old.

Chap at my work turned up on friday with a 02 996 C2...
I was gutted, as hes got his well before me.. He also parks at the window we sit near, so I need only turn to the right to see it, looking at me, begging me to go thrash the life out of it.

Im tempted to go for a Cab, whats the road noise like? Is it as bad as most cabs are?

Thanks

The first was a used 924 in 1985 at the age of 30. Had to wait another 22 years, until I had paid for the private schooling and universities before I could afford to buy and run the second.

Go for the cabriolet. Forget the noise etc. When the top is down, it's the best thing in your life (except for the missus). Enjoy the search and the car.

Bringing the age up again i'm afraid. Couldn't afford one until i was 46 yrs of age. However had 14 great years of owning a 944 before moving to the 98' C2.

Got my first Porsche (Boxster) at 25, basically to annoy the guys in the office and show them that if the came off the company car scheme and spent the resulting additional allowance and fuel money at 40p/mile(which at the time was great) you could buy a nice car instead of a focus or mondeo. I was the first to come of it and was quickly followed by all but one person in our office. Been driving porsches ever since appart from a nasty incident with a BMW Z4 which i would prefer to forget [:'(] i am now 33 with a 996 C4S which is, sounds and looks utterly fantastic. The only thing that lets it down is the rapidly ageing driver[&o] the servicing trips and warranty payments at the OPC have taken there toll !!.

If you go for a Cab. ie a 996 make sure it has the wind deflector, with it the difference is night and day especially if you have a female in the car ,The small glass wind deflector in the Boxster is not great and really offers no great protection at anything over 50 mph wind whistles around the back of your neck .Glad to see that I not alone in the age stakes[:D][:D]

100% agree.

Just a youngster, kitchens my boy. Got a 1980 Carrera Sport Targa in 1983 and ended up with what I consider the ultimate expression of the 911 art.
Am told that I shall have to have me licence looked-at in a years time.

I bet you can't wait! then you can walk about the house with short sleeve shirts in the winter and turn the thermostat up knowing those youngsters are paying your bill [:D][:D][:D][:D] Age has its privileges [:D]

Was 38 when I had my first Porsche (911 SC) that was 10 years ago now. Now "stuck" with a 996 2002 Cab and wishing I had sold it a year to two ago and kept the cash so that I could now buy a 997 for the same money!! As one of the previous posts said life is not a rehearsal. I have no regrets though as every time you drive a Porsche you really do smile. Apart from tyre wear it has been a most reliable vehicle. Infact I often think what could one replace it with and there are not many cars that combine reliability and usablilty but that equally make you smile!

I am now 37 and have had my 996 for 4 years...
I wanted a 911 by the time I was 30. I missed that...but it was worth the wait.
