Away trip

Sorry James - bit of a late response but it's all systems go from us! Very much looking forward to it.

Any chance we could secure an en-suite room please? Mrs M is particular about her ablutions in hte morning and it would be safer for everyone if she didn't trip over anyone in a corridor before breakfast... Especially if she hasn't had a cup of tea at that point too []

Gents

I have to confess that the demand for en suite rooms has caught me a bit off guard. I picked the Forest Inn becasue I know it and it has a great, remote moorland, location that I hoped that would outweigh some minor shortcomings in facilities. Now I'm not so sure and I don't want anyone upset. Worst case scenarion (I still haven't heard from Simon) is that three couples will have to have a non en suite room. Anna and I will take one so I guess I need another two volunteers. If not I shall try and secure an alternative hotel. I have paid a deposit to The Forest Inn but it's still early days so I should be able to get that back.

Cheers

James

PS Is the fact that two rooms are twins an issue? Anna and I will take one of those, assuming it's not en suite. This is getting complicated....

Sorry Mate ..Just had it confirmed, another en-suite room is needed! I think its a woman's thang...hahaha :)
We don't mind about twins ..if that helps?

Thanks again for all the hard work mate!

It's as I suspected I'm afraid. All the other hotels I can find in our agreed price range do not have enough rooms left or more commonly have less than ten rooms in the first place.

So we have two options:

1) Stay with the Forest Inn on the second night and accept three non en suite rooms.
2) Have both nights at The White Hart which is the only other place I can find with enough free rooms in our price range.

For my part I think it would be a shame not to stay at The Forest Inn becasue it has a proper moorland location and has exactly ten rooms so we'd have the place to ourselves. I'm only one out of ten though so I would really appreciate the views of others before I do anything further. Please let me know what you want to do.

I have not yet asked The Forest Inn about returning my deposit...

I don't mind not having en suite, I will dangle my armpits out of the convertible and bring family size armpit spray. Great to have the whole place to ourselves.

Hello All

I've managed to luck into some free tickets for the British Touring Cars at Donnington on Sunday so I won't be at Ascot this month. Plus I'm on holiday for the first week in June so won't make it to Ascot then either.

The ten attendees on our Dartmoor trip are:

Me
John
Jason
James
Simon
Craig
Adrian
Ken
Peter
Tony

At the moment I still need one more (John and I being the other two) volunteer for a non ensuite room on the second night. I should emphasise that there are no shared facilities at The Forest Inn - each bedroom has its own private bathroom. It's just that in three cases the bathroom is a couple of paces from the bedroom. BTW the issue of the twin rooms has been resolved.

If there's any chance of people sorting this out amongst themselves at Ascot this Sunday that would be great. If this really is a stumbling block then I shall book two nights at The White Hart. Either way once we know where we're staying I can start route planning in detail.

Cheers

James

PS I will be at Brooklands, displaying the 968 with luck, on 24th May with R20. Anyone else from R19 thinking of going?

Sorry for my delay. I think we should stay at the Forest Inn, the place looks likes it has great views.

Hopefully see you at Brooklands on the 24th May.

Thanks for organising this trip, I am looking forward to it.

Ken

Simon has kindly volunteered to take the third non en-suite room so we are good to go and I've started route planning. Full tanks on the Sat morning will be required![:D]

Not anymore I won't I'm afraid becasue my brother's flying in from the US at short notice. I'll see everyone at Ascot in July.

Cheers

I must've missed something. I was wondering when the concours is. What date and where? And what pub trip?

I doubt I'll make the Castle Coombe thing either. I'll have literally just got back from holiday. Do we have to book places or anything?

Cheers

James
