How bizarre! After spending much of this evenings R11 meeting pondering 944 front suspension I had a "clunk" on the way home. I also had some "clunks" at Silverstone.

I had a grovel under Beaky when I got home and discovered the near side ARB to wishbone link has sheared. No wonder I got a "clunk"

I am now wondering if the above picture was post shearing, or if it had something to do with the shearing [&:]

At least the bracket is a cheapish thing to break, time to buy up the last of ESS's triangulation brackets [:D]

I've already got them - it was the banjo shaped one on the wishbone that broke.

Ah, but, as I was getting a clunk at Silverstone that might well have been after the link broke.....so, in effect, no ARB at all.

The eye bolt shell was split so I prised it off but the bush id stuck firm on the nd of the ARB - but not near enough to the end that I can get a ball joint splitter on it to pull it off. It is stuck solid.

Looking on the Powerflex site they list two alternative eye bolt bushes PFF57-205 and PFF57-206. I wonder if Porscheshop sent me the wrong one (there's a surprise) and my helpful indy forced it on knowing no different. [:mad:][:mad:]

I'm hoping Stuart (K300), or someone else, can shed some light on the issue.

It transpires the 968 M030 bushes are different and, despite sending me 968 M030 inner ARB bushes, Porscheshop sent me standard 944 outter bushes. [:mad:][:mad:][:mad:]

I have one shattered banjo bolt as a result and will now have to wrestle off the other one to replace that as well. [:mad:][:mad:][:mad:].

Thank you Porscheshop! Thats £100+, considerable inconvenience, missed events, and a lot of fighting under the car which is not where I like to be. Great! [:mad:][:mad:][:mad:]

 
Re Porscheshop there was an article in 911 & Porsche Mag this month telling us all how wonderful they are.
Which is definately not my experience of them - Nor yours John by the sounds of things !!
 
If their recruiting policy included only employing people with a minimum of half a brain they might do somewhat better.

Because of the inevitable inter swapping of parts on older Porsche cars they need to listed to what people are telling them. Just asking what model and year the car is is often irrelevant.

They also need to know something about their products. I didn't know there were two types of ARB end bushes until I looked it up. Porscheshop are specialists, they should know these things.

I can't remember a purchase from Porscheshop that didn't have issues. I only bought the bushes from them because they made a pigs ear of selling me struts and I had a credit note to use up.

Still going well thanks Stuart. The top end is being rebuilt and put onto another forum members car as his original one cracked, I had it spare as I'd swapped in a rebuilt one when the head gasket went.

Thanks once again for that Peter. The Valves are on their way from Germany at the moment, I hope !, so all being well should have it all up and running again soon.
