Been offered a 944

Hi Guys,
Someone who I know in the motor trade has phoned me this weekend offering me a "mint" 944 Guards red FSH 87000 miles. 944's are not my area of expertise. Any idea what its worth, if its cheap enough I was going to buy it from him and sell it straight on.
Thanks
Vron

I hate people like you with a passion.

We buy, nurture, and love our 944's. Spending every available penny (and some unavailable pennies) in trying to keep our cars in A1 nick and you just see them as a method of making money.

BTW my 944 has more power than your 911 and would p**s on it any day you care to mention and twice on Sundays.

I might have had too much to drink tonight but I'm having a hell of a time of it [;)]

If it's a runner with an MOT it could be worth anything between ÂŁ1000 and ÂŁ5000. Impossible to say without seeing the car as all cars of this age should be valued on individul condition, history etc. Mileage has nothing to do with it and is probably tampered with anyway, so take a good look and compare with others before deciding if it really is mint

How very ungracious of me. I had had too much to drink and I'm not having the best of mornings. Why can't "clunk, clunk fizzzzzzzzz" be quieter? [:'(]

In retrospect 996 owners need every scheme available to make money. With 996 prices plummeting their residual value is in free fall. Give it a couple of years and they will be asking if they could get a 944 as a direct swap. [:D]

.... particularly those with "Savannah" (aka "Diahorrea" or "Hue-of-nappy-contents") interiors. Having been in one of those repeatedly, I can confirm that vomit is camoflauged effortlessly, and can fully understand the fact that they are very hard to move on ...

Ungracious maybe - but the sentiment I am wholeheartedly with.
I joined the forum as I have just bought a 924 Carrera GT (and now realise my first post entiled 'Carrera GT purchase' attracted a lot of attention because the multitude thought I was buying a mid engined waste of money [:D] [:D]) and am so disapointed to see so many people worried about their cup holders or the best colour in which to buy their bolide, or sticking options on their car (again naifly I thought the best options on a 911 were the ones you used to take things off to make them weigh less) and so the soul of Porsche is probably carried by the water coolers!! Like 924, 944 and 968.
Naturally I remove Cayennes from this statement

The great days of Porsche 50's through 70's were when a German bloke could buy a Porsche, hack from Hamburg to Stuttgart at speed and with fun, do a little bergrennen at the week ends - stick the skis on the roof in winter and still take the Frau to diner looking smart. More likley to see a water cooler doing that than some over specc'd 997

You bought a 924 Carerra GT, was the car from a dealer that sold it as an "estate" sale? (not estate as in car). ??? I may have known the late owner and car.

Not the most tactful of replies. It might have been better if you had checked Veronica's (Vron's) profile first. [:-]

LOL [:D]

It was the note in Vron's signature which prompted the comment ...

Given that the only details conveyed are the fact that it's a 944 with some miles on it, it's a bit difficult to value I'd say. Could be anything from an 84 Lux to a 92 turbo. [8D]

Oh!! Thanks for the commenst about the Carrera.

A couple of details on sticky owners thread at the top the 924 forum.

The car came from a dealer - not an estate sale.

Oooooh you guys are in so much trouble when Veronica logs back in (I notice she hasn't been on since 21:32 last night so hasn't seen most of your replies yet, giving you ample time to edit them and duck for cover :ROFLMAO: )

Luckily I don't think we have a reputation as a serious Register, but we generally try to be friendly

So not going to happen.

I don't try to be friendly. I try to be honest. [;)]

... and I'm just rude.

Been said before, and will be said again ...

(Should have put a few smilies in my posts probably. Apologies for any offence meant. [:D] )
