Been on the weighbridge...

...yesterday, and the result is a rather porkey 1480kg! (Full tank of fuel). I'm hoping, less fuel, stereo equipment, back seat and lightweight front seats to hit 1250kg. Anyone running a stripped-out turbo with weight figures to aim for?

Weighed my S a few weeks ago, it was 1290Kg with probably 10-15 litres of fuel and some tools in the boot, so possibly more like 1270Kg.

I have never weighed the turbo but I can feel that it is heavier not just by driving but when using the scissor jack. That may sound daft but it definitely does. I doubted myself so used the jack from the S just to check it wasn't a stiff jack.

Anyone any idea how accurate a typical weighbridge is?
I thought they were designed to tell how many tons a lorry is carrying. I could be wrong and I've on experience of trying one.

I suspect that it depends upon the weighbridge.

I imagine that there are some pretty accruate ones around, when used for Customs adn Excise duty, as well as those being used for 'Is this lorry too heavy to be legal' type purposes.

1300kg. At 2% accuracy (not unreasonable to expect, I'd guess) this is to within 26kg.

Oli.

My turbo weighed in at 1260 kg

1/4 tank of fuel and still got electric windows, carpets, rear seats, cd player, spare wheel and tools.

Have not got sunroof, ABS or A/C

Reshelled with a mk1 body [;)]

I had mine weighed with a full tank when it was in its semi stripped trackday mode - 7kg bucket seats, no rear seatback, no boot carpet, no tools or spare wheel and it was still 1400kg [&o]

What a lard arse.

Weight is a favourite of mine as i am trying to get my old track day lux as light as possible before going for a bigger engine - One thought - When the cars are dyno'd in a week or so at silverstone does the rolling road road record a weight of the car at the same time?

My lux should be finished in the next 2 months so and i will get it weighed and report back with news and feedback re accuracy. Race teams must use accurate weighbridges otherwise they will be in all sorts of trouble with the scrutineers so there must be some good ones about.

Don't they have to be checked on a regular basis for statutary purposes? The old Weights and Measures people.

Cheers,

Your local scrap metal dealer will have accurate scales as they are tested regularly and spot checked by weights and measures.

After I weighed mine we weighed Lemons silver rose. 1380kg iirc

This seems correct as his car does not have a sun roof, a very heavy accessory.

I'm not so sure you could run a car in street trim for much less than 1400kg. But in anycase given the size of the car that is'nt too heavy is it? I'd have thought that the vast majority of similarly sized sportscars out there must be around that weight if not heavier.

A Lotus Esprit was plastic, (I was never tempted, - dont like plastic bath tubs either) but it was heavier than an original (915g/box) 3.2 Carrera at the time. Or should that be 915g/bag[8|], - no I love 3.2's
So much for lightweight GRP bodyshells.

It was actually only 80 kilos more than yours Mike.

so 1340 kilos 1/3 tank of fuel
