Bleddy 4rse! [&:]

Looks like it was superglued on previously. Scrape off the residue & same again?

Thanks,
mik

You can get little double-sided sticky pads in Halfords - specifically for reattaching mirrors.

Might be worth a try.

The double sided stuff is crap, there is miror specific superglue avaialble, failing that try and get some of the stuff that the windscreen replacemnet companies use.

thanks folks.

Will try some evostick contact adhesive ('cos I've got some) in preference to superglue ~ even if it's just a temp fix.

Jeez, by the time you get this fixed along with the wipers you're going to be nearly a tenner into the car in a week. I'd make Slim pay - he obviously told you to buy a lemon [8D]

I recently had to re-attach my mirror on my BM.

Basically, you need to use a two pack epoxy (you can usually buy it in sachets). As it dries very hard and clear.

Make sure you clean the area with some alcohol based stuff first (white spirit or similar), then mix the stuff and apply to the mirror contact patch (you only need a thin coat). Once attached, it'll take 5 - 15 mins to dry, but as soon as it's on, it'll have a little bit of grip, but will probably start sliding down the screen - use some gaffa tape or something strong to keep it in place - otherwise after 15 mins, your arms will be ready to drop off!!

Don't use double sided tape as you'll get a very blurry view as it vibrates, and don't use super glue, as it's not that super and also dries white, and usually has a nasty reaction with plastic!

Hope this helps.[:)]

Don't use white spirit -it leaves a sticky residue.

Lighter fuel or meths best!!

Cleaned the area with isopropyl alcohol impregnated wipes, so nice & degreased.

I tried evostick Contact, which worked. [:)]

It takes 24hrs to set however, and we had to got to B&Q in both cars ~ 944 for wife and sprogs, and the Leon to be filled with laminate flooring when forementioned wife had selected it, and formentioned sprogs had SHUT THE **** UP FOR FIVE SECONDS to let us talk about it. []

Leon did well ~ seats folded it took 36 packs of laminate floor. Just for a couple of miles mind, but it still negotiated some speedbumps without a belly-rub.

944 didn't do so well ~ mirror dropped off after 5 mins driving.

Simply a case of not-enough-time-to-set methinks..... so I've had another go at it tonight. We do however have friends coming round, and I woun't be able to resist taking a few for a spin [8|] so I may have to try a 3rd time [:(]

Remember that these compounds also set faster with heat (not good at this time of year[;)])

Give the demister a good blast for 10 mins when the car is warm, and it might do the trick!!

Mine fell off on New Years Day 2000 driving down to my parents in Wales. I stopped at a Garage and got some tape, which just meant the mirror fell off every 5 mins until we got to Wales [&:]

Back home I bought some of the two part epoxy, but whilst pushing it into place I caused a 10 inch crack in the windscreen [] This meant a nice new windscreen from the local OPC [:D] (but 3 return visits to get it fitted correctly[]).

It better not fall off again [8|]

I have had 6 2x2 concrete slabs and 4 bags of sand in the back of my Turbo on a B&Q trip. I also moved house in my first Turbo.

Your S2 would probably have coped just as well with the flooring.

i have used the doulble sided stick pads from halfords in the past and the trick is heat, use a hair dry'er to heat the area a little and it sticks well. And i have used the back of my 924S as a tile mover before now 250 ceramic wall tiles and grout i managed to get in and not little fellas either, they can take quite a bit of stick, in fact i can get more things in the back than i can get in the boot of my BMW 5 series. Funny really thats the wife brought the bmw because it had a big boot but for alot of the big items i still have to put in mine.

I once had a Carlton GSi 3000. We bought a chest of drawers and tried to fit it in the Carlton - no chance. We then went home and got the wife's AX, went back and picked up the drawers no problem at all.

The above is the main reason I am trying not to be swayed into buying a saloon when I sell the cab. I am tempted by M5s etc. but I think I will stick to my guns.

The S2 took 4 packs for a bathroom. The width of the load bay put the Leon to shame , but 30+ packs would have been out through the sunroof! [;)]

The mirror coped well with some demo "idle to redline" runs in 2nd, followed by 3rd however. [:D] All comers much impressed by the 'ol Porker. Couldn't be happier! [8D] Starting to gell with it & realise that the mid corner sligt skips and sniffing-out-cambers are in no way indicative of the grip on offer. What a fabulous car..... [8D] [8D]

".......use a hair dry'er to heat the area a little and it sticks well......"

Should this be on the Boxster Forum? [:D]

My mirror was knocked off as my little angel moved from passenger seat to the drivers seat ( to all parents - the car was stationery and my 3 year old was not actually intending to drive [:D] ) I must admit to driving around for about a week with no mirror until I bought some ' stuff ' which binds together as a gel and after holding the mirror in place for 10 mins and wishing that I hadnt given up on the Gym [:)] all seems ok.

Whatever you do dont use superglue, the windscreen boys love it when you do cos when it cures it causes stress in the glass and after a time the screen cracks. Buy the special adhesive (ouch!)[:(] or you could end up paying for a new screen (even bigger ouch). [:(][:(]

I had trouble reattaching mine not so long ago (why exactly did they decide to cast them out of lead?)

I've kept the mirror in a box in the garage, and gone for a sticky on suction cup one. Sorry for cheating.[:D]
