Big Blacks

What model car do you have?
If the discs are wide almost an inch? and handed - the vents are angled forward - they are reasonably big blacks if not they could be 220 turbo or S2 quite big blacks and the discs will have straight vents. Not easy to tell just from the photo.
They are not Big Blacks / Reds though.

Are yours 030 blacks BUT painted red????????

They are "just about adequate provided that you don't mind bleeding them a lot blacks" painted red.

They originaly came off Andrew Sweetenhams old 250 Turbo and, as I understand, are standard on 250's and not exclusive to M030.

Just realised there are no 'small blacks' or just 'blacks' so some renaming might be in order.

I have reasonably big blacks painted red as well.

With green pads,

and black rears,

Tony

The rears are 'small blacks'

220s can be 'blacks'

250s 'reasonably big blacks'

then 'Big blacks'

What do i call the ceramic carrera GT ones i am fitting....[:D]

Big Dreams.. [:D]

I can't see if this has been clarified here or not, so here it goes:

The calipers that are on a standard 951 or S2 are not "Big Blacks".

The calipers that are on one of the above-mentioned cars in M030 specification, or a 951S (or SE as you brits call it), are called "S4" calipers (because they are also found on 928S4 cars), not "Big Blacks".

"Big Blacks" were found on the 928GTS

Thanks lads,

It seems I have "reasonably big manky blacks".......do I need to see a doctor?

I dont intend using the above discription when ordering parts (parts personel are sarcastic enough without handing it to them on a plate)

What are they from? (as my car seems to be made from bits)

360 Turbo (supposedly)

Coincidentally, today I have changed the front pads on my S4 'reasonably big black' callipers and they measured at 130mmx60mm,so if you're not sure what you've got there is the measurement for you [:D]

I've been pretty busy with old LIL today. As well as new brakes I've also had the passenger door card off to fix the central locking which decided to pack up yesterday. It was just the actuator rod coming loose from a balljoint. Whilst in there I cleaned up and greased the scissor mechanism for the electric window and it slides smoother and a bit quicker now.

One of the electric height adjustors on the drivers seat failed last week, so out came the drivers seat and it was simply that one of the rods from the motor to the lifter had come loose. This happened 3 months ago so I think I shall need to get a new one next time [&o]

With the seat out I was able to get my head right in under the dash board and squirt some grease on the bearings for my clutch pedal which had developed an annoying creak

Finally I double checked that the bolts on my TiAL wastegate were still nice and tight after a few of us had had problems after installation. Luckily they are still fine (touching wood like crazy here [:D] )

Lost on this one..........

.......SO IM GOING TO PAINT EM GREEN....

Then I will start a new thread called Reasonable Big Manky Greens.......add more pics.......and run a competition on identification

Like the rest of my car (including seats)

Mint Grun (Like a J-Cloth or the middle of a mint Aero)

Love it or hate it........the only car I have had that glows in the dark!

Like the rest of my car (including seats)

I think we need to see some pictures to realy apreciate it though.
